I'm a soul, RnB and gospel singer who can play the piano and a street dancer.
I was introduced to music when I was about seven years old through my church, and joining its youth choir and receiving piano lessons from my father, reinforced what must have been a natural interest and aptitude. At secondary school I was introduced to working with Hackney Empire and their artist development programme and began to think seriously about a future in music.My recent development has been in the field of vocal performance, in particular in the fields of gospel and soul music. This has led me to acquire keyboard improvisational skills and an ability to perform and self-accompany with chord substitutions and chromatic decorations. Vocally I have concentrated on establishing a warm tone, especially in the higher range, and expanding that range to be able to perform more challenging repertoire including Stevie Wonder and Earth Wind and Fire. I find I am strongly influenced by voices and groups such as Tonex, John Legend, and Raymond and Co. I have performed regularly both within the college and externally, covering repertoire by Kirk Franklin, Stevie Wonder and others. I also write my own material showing the influences of gospel music fusing this with a jazz technique in instrumental breaks and soul techniques in the vocal arrangements and chord progressions. I have performed my songs at the Hackney Empire, at Walthamstow Town Hall (with Estate of the Arts), Stratford Circus, as well as at my college and church.
