I'd like to meet:
Sycophants and vampires. Spitters. TW's. People who stand in front of you at gigs and talk through the entire thing. People who, when asked what music they like, answer "everything".
They're all great...
Music:
I harbor an unhealthy love for handclaps and old-school Hip Hop.
If it's got cowbells you can count me in.
The pure beauty and poetry of Hendrix's lyrics gives me goosebumps.
I truly believe that Casablancas is the best vocalist of our generation.
If it doesnt make me think or dance, I couldnt give a shit.
Female vocalists turn me on.
On my current playlist:
Le Tigre
Johnny Cash
Pixies
Tom Vek
Ryan Adams
Nico
Joy Division
Bauhaus
TV On The Radio
YYYs
Tokyo Police Club
Late Of The Pier
Serge Gainsbourg
Movies:
Sixties New Wave = UTTER BRILLIANCE (Darling, A Hard Days Night and The Knack in particular).
My tastes are constantly evolving the more films I discover, but I admire any film that dares to stray from the conventions and restraints of a Hollywood narrative:
Punch Drunk Love//A Bout De Souffle//Elephant//Rushmore//The Virgin Suicides//Junebug//Royal Tenenbaums//The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou//Clockwork Orange//Psycho//Cidade de Deus//
ANYTHING with Giovanni Ribisi in it.
ANYTHING with Bill Murray in it.
Marx Brothers creations
Television:
People say that television is a waste of time. I don't agree. Spending two years designing a device with evenly-spaced plastic teeth used to tidy and part one's hair, then realising that the 'comb' has already been invented - now that was a waste of time.
These days I enjoy Arrested Development//Art Attack//Catterick//The (old) Avengers//Wildlife docs
Books:
I mostly enjoy flicking through art/photography books, but as far as fiction is concerned I like many an emotive and absorbing read -- Junk//Tiger Eyes//The Lovely Bones//Behind the Scenes at the Museum.
I'm also partial to the odd biography so long as the subject matter is someone who inspires me, and not some overpaid sports star or Z-list twat off the telly:
Going Solo (Roald Dahl)//Passion is a Fashion (The Clash)//I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (Maya Angelou).
Heroes:
Bill the medic.
