The half-human scion of Atlantis, volatile superhuman son of a human sailor and an Atlantean princess. Namor the Sub-Marinerjoined the Allied cause in World War II, and in the post-war era he and other adventurers formed the All-Winners Squad. However, in the 1950s, his kingdomwas destroyed by the madman Destiny, who rendered him amnesiac. Years later, Namor chanced to encounter the Human Torch, who him to the sea, partially restoring his memories. Believing Atlantis by atomic tests, Namor summoned the gargantuan Giganto to attack New York. When the Fantastic Four destroyed Giganto, Namor was prevented from further attack by the FF's Invisible Girl, to whom he was immediately attracted. Later, he allied with the FF's archenemy Doctor Doom; but while Namor distractedthe team, Doom raised the FF's Baxter Building HQ thousands of miles in the air, betraying Namor. Namor helped the FF return their building to Earth, then departed." "Namor used salvaged pirate treasure to purchase a movie studio and offered the then-bankrupt FF film roles designed to strand the Invisible Girl's three male teammates. However, the Fantastic Four escaped from their straits, and Namor made good on his film promise, earning the team a fortune. Seeking his kingdom's survivors, only briefly drawn back to battle under control of the Puppet Master, Namor finally located an Atlantean colony, including his lost love Dorma. Promising a new era for Atlantis, Namor led them to war against the surface world, but his feelings for the Invisible Girl proved unacceptable to his people, most of whom abandoned him. Both alone and in a brief alliance with the Hulk, Namor battled the Avengers, but unknowingly did the team a favor when his attack on a frozen Eskimo idol released Captain America. He continued pursuing his infactuationwith the Invisible Girl, but the FF recruited sorcerer Doctor Strange against him. Following a disastrous alliance with Magneto against the X-Men, Namor regained Atlantis and repelled an invasion by the barbarian Attuma. He rashly attacked New York to win attention to his surface world grievances, but his rampage was halted by Daredevil. His rule challenged by his warlord Krang, Namor underwent a quest for the mystic Trident of Neptune and confirmed his sovereignty. Namor finally regained his memories of Destiny, who fought the Atlantean to a standstill before his own insanity cost him his life. Learning Destiny's power came from the ancient Serpent Crown, Namor strove to keep it from the hands of Naga, dictator of Atlantis's neighbor Lemuria. With that crisis averted, Namor remains torn as to whether Atlantis's interaction with the surface world should be one of peace or of war. Abilities/Accessories: The Sub-Mariner possessesvast superhuman strength and durability, enabling him to bear the intense pressures of the sea and even survive in space. He can swim and, using his ankle wings, fly with remarkable speed. He possesses telepathic rapport with marine life, the ability to absorb and discharge electricity, and various other attributes. He can survive indefinitely on land or underwater.-Marvel Legacy: The 1960s HandbookSWORD OF KAMUU:This ancient sword was forged of Orichalcum (an arcane element) and offers great mystic powers to those who know how to employ it. Orichalcum is a special metal that was also used by the people of Antillia to construct flying ships, and was by Daederitkon in the Hyborian Age to create wings to fly.The sword of Kamuu is somehow linked to the royal blood line of Atlantis. Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner, is the most famous of this line.It was once used to change the course of Atlantean history, but was lost thereafter in an obscure sub-sea battle and ended up in the hands of Alaric, a minor disciple who was raised to the level of a master by the blade.The golden blade traditionally has had a large gemstone in its hilt called the Eye of Zartra. This gem of ancient, almost forgotten sorcery is extremely potent on the Earthly plane. If it is imbedded in an item that is used to spill the blood of an Atlantean, the Eye takes over the item and uses it to destroy the user, but if it spills the blood of a Sorcerer Supreme, it grants immortality to the user. Anyone who wears or wields the sword has great physical might bestowed upon him.The blade is so ensorcelled as to cut through most magic defenses as if they were gossamer, and is itself unbreakable. In recent times, the sword was used by Alaric in an attempt to kill Doctor Strange and achieve immortality for himself. But in the ensuing battle, Namor joined in and was cut by Alaric. The sword then turned upon Alaric and sliced him into mystic ribbons, then diffused these throughout the universe. Doctor Strange and Prince Namor, struck aghast by this series of events, decided to remove the Eye of Zartra from the sword. The eye now rests in Doctor Strange's keeping while the sword is in the care of Namor.
