About Me

dave Blackgrove.. Running behind Sambalanco and DestinationOut.com .Having started the ball rolling with Sambalanco in February 2004 Dave has been running with this session ever since. Sambalanco manouvers are made allongside the multi-tallented Sambalanco brothers, Riley and Simon Alvaro.
For about a year, he also covered the DestinationOut column for Straight No Chaser magazine until it stoppped printing towards the end of 2007. That marked the end of an era that began when he was 9, 18 years before he joined the crew.. In response, Dave launched DestinationOut.com to "continue to 'BigUp' the scene in all it's colors across the planet. There's so much worth shouting about!"
As if that wasn't enough, Dave also works full time at Coda Agency having moved Best Kept Secret maneuvers over to the east London Coda crew with Nick Matthews.
As far as his DJ side goes, Dave has travelled beyond the UK boundaries to Sweden, Ibiza, Portugal, Spain, France & Turkey with an eclectic globe spanning record bag, while London is his stomping ground.
Highlights so far include Reading Festival, sunset sessions in Ibiza & five deck shows in Sweden with the Sambalanco crew (that's a show yet to be unleased in the UK STILL!).
In London, sessions like Future World Funk with Russ Jones or Adventures In Paradise with Spiritual South & Gilles Peterson, have enabled Dave to flex the muscles of an eclectic record box to full effect!
Full respect goes to Russ Jones for the Dave's early breaks as a dj. Russ opened the first door with an afternoon session in the Vibe Bar courtyard on Brick lane in 98. Support sets for Marcus Valle at The Jazz Cafe and Punjabi Hit Squad followed at the age of just 18.. "Russ keeps doing this and is properly looking beyond his own agenda".
Similar appreciation is clear for Simon Alvaro, for Dave's first record, Jocelyn Brown: It's alright, I feel it. Dave wasn't even a dj then but what a start!
Dave followed that up with a trip to Beggars Banquet in Kingston where he bought the Newyorican Soul and Roni Size' Represent Albums.
The result of that and a few more records collected, is great, diverse dj sets. From World Beats to Jazz , Old-wicked-Boogie to Baile Funk, Disco to Broken, Afro Beat to Baltimore bangers.. It goes on!
