Own Career!!In the music industry now a day's, being an artist is not easy. There are alot of step's that are necessary in producing talented, excited and popular artist's. The first thing as an artist that you must understand when entering the music industry is that no artist has made it (i.e. been signed mainstream) without a certain level of work, some say it's talent, some say it's luck, but here at S.A.F.E. Management Service's, we say it's a combination of hard work and determination. It is true though that as an artist you must have a certain level of talent, but once you make it across the talent barrier it's all business from there. You must continue to hone your talent as an artist during the course of your career, but it is important to realize that you have to be business minded to "keep the train rolling" per say. Part of that business is obtaining the correct promotion companies that will advance your career, not bring it down. They in our opinion to the right promoter for the job is based on a number of step's. One: Whatever orgaization that you choose to promote for you, they must be within your budget, do not choose one and think that it's all good. Look at a variety of promoter's, because different promoter's have different promotion opportunities that may be more beneficial to your need's. Some may offer strong advertising on myspace and through the work of flyer's (but if you choose to go the flyer route, make sure that you have seen previous work done by the promoter that you choose). Other's may be stronger at email blast's that hit 30,000 to 60,000 people at one time. It is just based on what you as an artist feel that you need to help you. Two: Alway's make sure that you as the artist know what you are paying for before you pay for it. If you do not see previous work before you pay for service's rendered, make sure that you ask for it. Three: Remember that as the artist, you are your best promoter, if your potential fan's never see you, they probably will not appreciate your talent, no matter how talented you are. You are your best promotion tool. Make sure that you keep yourself visible at the right times. The key is to attracting as many people to your event's, attracting them to your album's, and convincing them that they need to buy your cothing. If they come to your event, buy your album, and buy your clothing, then they become your ultimate source of promotion (but keep in mind, that you sold them on the idea). If a prospect fan arrive's at your event and enjoy's your music, they may buy a cd, if they buy an album, they may buy a shirt. If that person comes to another event, they have been given some time to listen to your music at their own leisure, between your last event and this event, so chances are that they enjoyed themselves the last time and are looking forward to it again. If they wear the shirt that they purchased at the last event at this event, now they are promoting for you.Another key to success in the industry, is choosing a couple excellent producer's, the better the beat's, and the more appealing they are to the ear, the more it will sell. Once you have a couple good beat's, all you have to do is make sure that the sound of your vocal's attached to the beat of your choice, blend smoothly together. Your producer should be able to advise you properly on blending the sound, and he/she will help you produce the best sound quality for you album. Express your opinion's, but trust your producers opinion as well. Make sure that you protect your beat's as your personal property, copyright them and save them, even if you do not use them right away. You may be able to use them later down the road in your career. Make sure that you register your lyric's as well. An option that you have as an artist to register your lyric's is with SNOCAP. SNOCAP provides you with a number of ways to register your lyric's and it's free. So take advantage of it.Also be concerned about your safety and security, it is important to know that no matter how big or small your career is, the more that you do, the more you will have to watch out. There is always someone out there trying to step on someone else to get to the top. If they cannot get to the top, then they will do whatever it take's to pull you back to the bottom so that you do not make it before them, or at all. Watch your back, and if you can make sure that you hire some proffesional assistance to come in protect you, your family, your posse, and your career. Put them in the order of importance for yourself, only you know what is more important to you and your career. None the less, it is dire that you have some sort of protection to watch you back. You as an artist have plenty to worry about, and protecting yourself need's to not be a concern. Make sure though that whoever, or whatever company that you choose to come in and take care of that side of business for you, that you have the ultimate in trust in them. Most importantly, recognize the fact that you are your best promoter, your best ally, and your best asset, you have to sell yourself to yourself, before you can sell it to other people. Protect that fact it is your life and your career. Also remember, that "the more people that know about you, the less people will forget about you." Be S.A.F.E. and good luck in everything that you do.Respectfully,Jason MiessDirector of Operation'sS.A.F.E. EnforcementS.A.F.E. Management Service's
