About Me

"life tastes sweeter when it is sugar-coated and garlanded with lemon meringue." (Mark Twain, 1869)We live in a world where image is king, where style rules over substance and self-promotion has been elevated to its own art form - in this world the candy gods' commercial sensibilities fall a long way short of the mark. In an age where technological advances are made on an almost daily basis and the realms of possibilities revealed by computers and software are constantly explored and tested by artists across the musical spectrum, the candy gods have wholeheartedly failed to embrace anything greater than a circa-1989 keyboard and the drum machine contained therein. And so where does this all start and where is it all going? What new delicacy can these three candy gods, no longer in the first flushes of youth, offer to the musical smorgasbord of Sheffield? It could be argued that the journey begins with Khand-i-ghod, the ancient spirit-guide of the Algonquian Nation, called upon during the peyote infused rites of passage to bring spiritual and physical healing and nourishment to the initiates. Made manifest in the now infamous shrine located in the Black Hills of Dakota, the historical links to this pre-historic deity and even the ultimate fulfilment of its purpose are, of course, all too apparent.Interwoven into the threads of the candy gods music and, some say, their very ethos are the fibres that echo their anthropological tribal heritage and reflect the shape of things to come. There are some who say that it has been all too easy for these once and future kings of this unique triumvirate and yet this couldn't be further from the truth. Little is known of the Herculean struggles and hardships endured by the trio to reach this place where they are now and yet it is evident that where they are now is merely on the way to where they will be.It may not always be easy to understand why the candy gods, but it will always be hard not to like them.

Moorfoot Tavern - Sept 15th

Sometimes, gigs can be tough and there's very little you can do about it.  At every gig you play, chances are something will go wrong, whether it's a broken string, poor crowd, bad sound etc.&nbs...

First gig - The Red House

SO, it was time to see what people would think of our new drummer-free lineup.  It's been sounding good at practice but we were aware that it might take a while to get used to the new sound. ...
