About Me

From the ashes of trip-hop's finer moments, The Golden Ratio was born in Los Angeles in the winter of 2003. Vocalist Talia Mays and bassist Maintenance met while collaborating with sonic pioneer, Tricky. Soon after their meeting, the two linked up with Michael Hayungs, a guitarist Maintenance had met while playing in an underground psyche-funk band. Michael's ethereal riffs and synthed-out textures instantly meshed with Maintenance's kinetic, dubbed-out bass lines and Talia's spell-casting voice. With pocket style drummers and synthetic beats, The Golden Ratio began weaving a sound all their own.
In the summer of 2005 The Golden Ratio released their first album, Cesium Parlor. In this debut The Golden Ratio discovered the centuries old balance that generates aesthetically pleasing results, balancing the opposing characteristics of rock, electronic sounds and the world of Tim Burton. .
