About Me

I refuse to cram all that is me into a paragraph or two on a silly website! :) In a depressingly small nutshell, I am a high school English teacher (scary that that is the first thing that I attach to my identity...) who also works part time at a major retailer to pad the imfamously insufficient educator's pay. Though I love both of my jobs, I don't see myself sticking with either for much longer in my current capacity. I have a myriad of interests, as outlined below, and am always up for tring new things and meeting new people. I love my friends and family though it is hard to always do them justice with my busy schedule. I'm gonna stop here; if you've read this far and want to know more send me a message or something...

My Interests

Well, I have lots of interests; unfortunately most of them land me squarely in the "nerd" catagory. I love music and movies and enjoy revisiting old favorites on a regular basis. I make my living with literature and secretly hope to somehow make it with writing though life and laziness have a nasty way of butting in. I really enjoy cooking when I have the time and someone around to eat the finished product. Baseball has been a vital part of my life for as long as I can remember; I still love my Cardinals as much now as I did when I cried myself to sleep when they lost the World Series in '87. Though you wouldn't know it by looking at my pictures, I get a lot of satisfaction out of the time I spend in the gym and try to get in at least 4-5 a week to work off the work-week stress. I have plenty more geeky interests but I think I'll stop before I dig myself too deep a hole...

I'd like to meet:

I love meeting all kinds of people, one can never have too many friends, and I like "re-meeting" people I haven't heard from in a while. I think that's a pretty safe answer to an obviously loaded question... :)

Music:

Coheed and Cambria, The Nadas, Towncrier, Breaking Benjamin, Dead Poetic, Counting Crows, Alkaline Trio, Chevelle, Stavesacre, Matt Nathanson, Motion City Soundtrack, Foo Fighters, and about a hundred other bands...

Movies:

American Beauty, Braveheart, The Boondock Saints, Saving Private Ryan, Wedding Crashers, Cinderella Man, Donnie Darko, Punch Drunk Love, Oldboy, Spanglish, Lost in Translation, The Weatherman, Adaptation, 25th Hour, It's A Wonderful Life.... I could go on and on here.

Television:

SportsCenter, Cardinals Baseball, Food Network

Books:

For Whom The Bell Tolls, The Catcher In The Rye, To Kill A Mockingbird, The Nick Adams Stories, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Watchmen, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...pretty much 20th century American Lit. with some French Lit thrown in. I do find time for some guilty pleasures (George R.R. Martin, Stephen King, etc.)
