I have an insatiable appetite for learning. Due to the tangential nature of its ferocity, it is simultaneously my greatest strength and greatest weakness. While I do not subscribe to mediocrity as an approach to anything in life, that same appetite for knowledge ironically allows my perpetual degree of success in a given field to most aptly be characterized with a likewise description. I am most certainly a person who feels "driven" or "compelled" in various aspects of life, such as learning. I simply wish that I was compelled in an applied sense, and not just in having a (literally) unstoppable mind. Now, if only wealth were distributed based on the level to which a person challenges their intellect.
My son is a brilliant little stud of a man, who may rival me as one of the most challenging people to ever be raised. I know him, as much as I know myself, and because of that he will flourish. He will not feel torment in the way that I felt torment through being raised the way I was. He will not be creatively, philosophically, psychologically, or emotionally stifled as I was. I can't wait to stand back and admire him as the years progress. He teaches me things every day about love, honesty, and accountability. He causes me to rethink every decision I make, and realize that what I do does not affect only me.
