~*~Malibu Barbie~*~

Hey again! It's the one and only Melissa back up in da house once again!! Here is my story!! Growing up in the small town of Greenwood, Indiana, I had always dreamt of making a name for myself in Hollywood as an actress. However, the thought of being in the entertainment industry was absurd to my friends and family. Some flat out laughed at the idea, while others frowned upon it. The discouragement did not hold me back -- it only made me more determined. Barely a high school graduate, armed with a fervent passion and ambition, I ventured across the country to sunny Malibu, California in hopes of making my dream a reality... while at the same time pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Pepperdine University. One year later, I have managed to build up my resume, join the AFTRA union, and get close to getting my SAG card, all in the midst of going to school full-time.This year I am studying abroad in beautiful Buenos Aires, Argentina and living with a home-stay family. I'm soaking up the amazing Latin culture and loving every minute of it! It is such a great learning experience seeing different parts of the world, and it has really helped me to grow and become a more independent woman. Being the Sagittarius that I am, I love to travel and am always itching to get out and see the world. I'm on a long vacation from school right now, so I am traveling all over South America. I am having the time of my life -- from snowboarding in the Andes Mountains and viewing up close the majestic glaciers of Calafate, to horsebackriding in Cordoba and exploring the ancient Incan ruins of Machu Picchu, from taking a boat ride under the Iguazu Falls and visiting Ushuaia (the southernmost city in the world), to island-hopping in Lake Titicaca (the largest lake in South America) and soaking up the sizzling South American sun on the ritzy resort beaches of Punta del Este, you name it and I'm there! So far I have been to Chile, Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, and right now, I'm in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I have to say Rio is definitely my favorite destination in the world and THE place to be. I am in love with this city, and I just can't get enough of it! I'm staying here for the world-famous Carnaval, where we get to rack up our sins with no shame or guilt! On the contrary, for the first 20 days in February, I will be staying at a mission base in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, helping at-risk kids on the streets. I'm really looking forward to that because I love working with kids; I just feel like I can relate to them more easily. On top of all my traveling and volunteering, I'm taking a full load of 18 units in school, so I'm definitely keeping myself busy! I won't be back in the States until the end of May, but I am constantly posting new pictures to keep you up-to-date with my life and adventures down here in the southern hemisphere.
