There are currently over 100,000 abandoned orphans in Romanian today. In the city of Oradea, were I work, there are approximately 1,250 such children. They live in institutions, in hospitals, on the streets and in the sewer systems. These orphanages are over crowded and sadly many of these children choose to run away from them, preferring the harsh reality of street life compared with enduring institutionalized abuse and neglect.
Consider the heartache of these children in crisis. They are often alone, hungry, afraid and lacking adequate medical care. Without intervention, they face a lifetime of suffering, and hardship. I will be takeing a full time positions with Pathway to Joy Ministries (PTJM) in their goal to actively restore, heal, and love many of these children back to a life of hope and health; mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Well, it looks like I will be making Oradea my home. I have a full time missionary postion working as a Coordinator of the Teams and the Child Sponsorship as well as working with the young people in the Orphanage. I love it here and I have made some really good friends. I have alway considered myself a city girl, so I am very comfortable. Although Oradea is a dirty small city, it's perfect for little old me.
