About Me
"Something to say."
In these times where music is contrived, created for the sole purpose of making a quick buck, and with the least amount of thought, a lot of people seem to charge hip hop to the game. Artists sell millions of records, but a lot of budgets depend on recyling the same concepts, beats and imagery. The same format every album. Enter Asylum.A five man crew of artists who simply want to bring relevance and authentic Hip Hop back to the forefront. The members include Still Ill, Geometrix, Wonder, Jae Scott, and Cinstar. Their sound is somewhere between Wu-Tang and Goodie Mob. They were influenced by hip hop greats such as Ice Cube, Rakim, B.D.P., P.E., Nas, Jay-Z, WU, Outkast and the Dungeon Family, A Tribe Called Qwest, and many others. The beats are very energetic but with dark overtones while Asylum's delivery & wordplay is extremely cleaver and percise. They are out of Atlanta, Georgia. They have been grinding around Atlanta, performing at various clubs around the city like Apache Cafe (The World Famous Mic Club), Lenny's of East Atlanta, Royal Peacock, Black lion Cafe, and Kaya (now Visions).Their current single, "On my mind" b..w "Never Get Over." The single has been receiving great feedback from listeners and radio personalities. Their songs deal with real life issues to which anyone can relate--ranging from politics to life to whatever you are going through right now, good or bad.Asylum aims to give a different perspective than what usually comes from the South, something that deviates from the usual format (threatening jesture- drug references- enter punchline here __________). They definitely have something relevant to say without being preachy.Asylum has been getting a lot of requests and spins on 88.5 WRAS-Atlanta and 91.1 WREK FM. The response has been excellent and continues to grow. They have perfomed with many Atlanta artists such as Vintage Imperial, Jaws of Life, Shred da Verbal Tongue, Grease Kidz, 4-ize,Psyche Origami, and J-Mil of Collective Efforts. Asylum has been recording diligently for the past year in preparation for their album coming soon titled "The Antigen."
