Vegan Arts Collective

About Me

UPDATE: This page previously served as a the vegan arts collective The general intention of this collective was to express pains manifesting within society and in that, to provide awareness on those topics, as well as establishing various internal and external solutions. It was comprised of artists and musicians from a widely varied range of differing art forms from music to film (see list). We were in the process of beginning to gather together and work on projects in a loosely collaborative, but idea inclusive way. We embraced both people who are simply beginning (interested in some form of artistic expression) as well as established masters. We collaborated both in person, as well as online regardless of location. This collective was not specifically based on animal rights but also on civil rights, womens rights, etc. addressing anything that causes suffering. The reason for selecting vegans and vegetarians as members of this group, was to remain amongst those who are similar in their level of ethical understanding and who have given an example of personal sacrifice for the wellbeing of others.
Events:
Events initially included art sessions, musical collaboration, etc. as well as conceptual/organizational meetings. For those who were hesitant towards the commitment of immediate effort, it was to know that social networking (basically just getting to know those involved and observing, hanging out, chatting, or taking a part in some conceptual exchange) is a large part of the process. Eventually larger scaled gatherings were intended to be held; audiences invited; live music played; visual art displayed in a way that sometimes collaborates with music, the same with photography, etc. At times the forms were intended to be isolated, at other times, they were intended to be cohesive. Stage acts (plays, performance art etc.) were intended and at times, to collaborate with some, or all other ... music, visual art, etc.). This was to be the same with dance, fashion shows, instillations, etc. Food was either to be premade and offered, or prepared at the gatherings in a lesson oriented manner and shared. Literature relavent to the puropose of the project was be handed out (sociological, psychological, philosophical, political, rights oriented, etc.). Readings were to occur, shared political/philosophical forums, social areas, conceptual exchange, etc. in the peripheral of the main stages.
Collaboration began musically and branched out into varied media.
More comprehensive orginisation for the visual arts aspect of the collective was anticipated to begin within the first two years of establishment.
Other groups were to form consecutively.
Forms of expression intended:
Music
Visual Arts
Photography
Writing (Poetry, Literature, Essays, etc.)
Film
Playwriting
Dance
Fashion
Modeling
Performance Art
Sculpture
Installation
Etc.
... but due to the advent of powerfully disruptive personal tragedy amongst the lives of primary orginizers it has been reverted to a collective net space intended to provide networking opporunities for local vegan and vegetarian artists of various kinds. Feel free to contact other people within the friends list to discuss bugs and poop.
The musical gatherings of the collective have never long ceased and will continue to remain open to minor, or substancial collaboration. The sessions have remained almost entirely improvised.
The collaborative music project has always been vegan member based but began long before the idea of varied media orginisation and (as the vegan arts collective has reverted to a networking source) is not soley representative of VAC. All refferences to musical collaboration made within this page now reffer to this music project.
Go here for that.
