About Me

THE DIRTY ORCHESTRATOR-There are many producers, dj's, musicians, and beat makers, but not many orchestrators. Since birth, miles knew he had music flowing through is blood. a drummer since childhood, arranging music was always a passion. coming from a diverse background, he explored all the different forms of music. starting from classic rock, funk, hip hop and early electronic, which he was raised around, all styles drew him like antenne to lightning. is father, being a very talented, genius musician aswell, encouraged his musical growth by teaching him and his brothers to play what ever musical instruments they enjoyed. miles naturally being the contrary, common amongst middle children, picked up turntables, after a brief stint at the age of 7, of breaking the family record player. the intrigue, never left. by the time miles was in his teens, he figuired out clever ways to make money, and he, his father, and his older brother built their basement studio. miles got himself a sampler, and drum machines, synths, and all he could afford. thanx to a generous father with the same love for music, offered plenty of financial backing for it. then soon after, he got his turntables. starting small, miles built the record collection he compiled from garage sales, and friends and family, in order to get himself more of a musical education, which was choice, since his father had a very solid knowledge of what real music was, intruducing him to the sounds of led zepplin, frank zappa, mahavishnu orchestra, rush, to learn drumming of all styles. with a solid library of john bonham, max roach, ginger baker, tony allen, keith moon, art blakey, billy cobham, and so on. thirsting for more music, miles looked to his family again. his mother, who had a love for electronic , funk, and soul music, intruducing him to groups like kraftwerk, man parrish, zapp, gap band, parlement, james brown and the jb's and everything, and i mean, everything beyond and between. jazz came later .. miles started spending time with his grandmother, who intruduced him to jazz artists like Miles Davis, thelonius monk, charles mingus, art taylor, duke ellington, donald byrd, john coltrane, and all the greats. drawing from what he learned, miles got himself into everything he could to hear what ever music he was interested in at the time. his ranges went from early acid house to hip hop when he spent time with his aunts who were into it all. djing began to take a stronghold in the early 90's, and he landed himself a residency at a local skating rink where he honed and crafted his skills as a selector and orchestrator. back then, he played it all, from radio friendly, to his coined "head sessions" where he played the best rare grooves, and funk, to the ghetto werkout with dj mikey, where he crafted his uniqe nitch for combining ghetto/booty house with techno for the last hour of the skate sessions. nobody could wear skates though :). from there, he was able to meld techno into the picture to the point of doing full on techno sets, which led him to the rave scene in the early to mid 90's. since then, it was a constant progression in his musical education. traveling became a new factor after miles started sending out mixes all over the world. after many flights from cali to eastern europe, miles felt more of an explorer in both senses, musically and geograpic. feeling well travelled and well rounded, miles felt the need to re-invent, and dissapeared for a while to live his life, and create. he got involved in his local scene in chicago, playing out, throwing events, even assisting a friend who was an instructor at Columbia College, in the dj 2 class, where miles had his own portion of the class to teach production with Propellerheads Reason 3.0 production program, whilst doing weeklys, until he felt complacent with the scene, and walked out of that aswell for very many reasons. now, at the age of 27 a musician in his own right, miles created his very own thing. his interpertation of all his influences, called THE BLACK ACID ORCHESTRA, his one man band, with musical styles ranging from afrobeat, jazz to acid house and hip hop. At 27, miles built himself a reputation amongst his influences, changing the role from, influenced to influence. now, the people he looked up to, are looking up to him. 2008 is turning into an interesting and exciting year for him, with the birth of his first son, and also the impact of his jack orchestra release on generator.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ + +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ok. thats the bio, now here's me.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++HEY! Im miles. im pretty mellow when i want to be, im a real deal person, a happy dad, and i love music. i make music. and even records. and more records. ive got a bit of a left field sense of humor that my wife and family apriciate, or understand. im also known as the sword of truth, cause i dont care for bull "censored", and i dont stand for bull "censored" and i will tell you. but im the nicest person you will ever meet. so, music. well, i work with alot of artists, and i like doing my own things. i do live pa/dj sets with my own material, and i will drop an acidhouse set at the drop of a tab, lol. i only play real music. i look at it like this,.... if your not respecting the history of the music your playing and doing it just to be cool, your a lame. if you dont know the music your playing, and dont know where it came from, how it got there, what it took to get it there, what made it, and who made it, and give the people credit for it, then your a lame. NOT EVERYTHING IS FOR EVERYONE, BUT ATLEAST RESPECT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE INTO IT BECAUSE THEY ARE INTO IT. that being said.M-
