About Me

Name: Artemis, a.k.a. Requiem, a.k.a. Javelin, a.k.a. Shim'Tar, a.k.a. Wonder Woman III, a.k.a. Lady Artemis of the UnderworldHair: Reddish GoldEyes: GreenGroup: Bana-Midghdal amazons, former member of the HellendersKnown Allies: Wonder Woman II, Akila, Wonder Girl II, Jason Blood, SojournerOrigin: ThemysciraKnown Relatives: Dalkriig-Hath (ex-husband)Major Enemies: Dalkriig-Hath, The White Magician, Circe, Morgan Le Fey Named after the Goddess of the Hunt, Artemis was born into the Amazons of Bana Mighdall -- a much more aggressive and ferocious tribe compared to Wonder Woman (Princess Diana) and her Themyscirian sisters. Artemis and Diana got off on the wrong foot and instantly did not like each other. And with the Themyscirians living a utopian life compared to the hardships that the Bana Mighdall had experienced, Artemis harboured a jealousy and hatred toward them. When Queen Hippolyta experienced premonitions of Wonder Woman's death, she quickly edified a contest to reinstate an Amazon champion to be Wonder Woman. Her daughter, and Wonder Woman at the time, Diana, was surprised and baffled by this decision. But she entered the contest nonetheless. Artemis, too, was determined to become the new champion. The two came head to head in the contest, but Hippolyta had rigged the events so that Artemis would come out on top. To the disappointment of Diana, Artemis took her place as the new Wonder Woman.Artemis was eager to be her people's champion in man's world. So she wasted no time in leaving the island of Themyscira and assimilate herself into human society. She was as much an effective combatant as Diana. However, like her Bana Mighdall sisters, her attitude towards humankind, especially males, was not quite the diplomatic level that Diana had maintained as Wonder Woman. Artemis was stubborn, arrogant, rude, and quickly tarnished the good name of the Amazons, much to the chagrin of Diana, who continued to live in man's world to monitor Artemis' development. The two continued to be at each others' throats, especially when it came to the consequences of Wonder Woman's actions in the public eye.The brash Artemis met her fate during a battle with the White Magician and was killed -- just like Queen Hippolyta's premonitions. Diana then resumed the mantle of Wonder Woman once more. Meanwhile, Artemis did not "die" in the mortal sense, but was forced into becoming the bride of a lord of Hades' Underworld, Dalkriig-Hath. Not long after, Diana learned of her mother, Hippolyta's reasons for the contest and the duplicity of the events. And so she travelled to the Underworld in an attempt to set things straight with Hades. The two Amazons met resistance from the Underworld denizens, but Diana was able to rescue Artemis and bring her back to the mortal world.Still bitter with the Underworld types, Artemis joined a group of demon hunters called the Hellenders, calling herself Requiem. Her hunt included Neron and the powerful demon Etrigan. Later on, Artemis became the mentor to the new Wonder Girl, Cassie Sandsmark, and even adopted the position of the liaison between the Themyscirian and Bana Mighdall Amazons. Though she did little to prevent the Amazon civil war that saw Queen Hippolyta ousted from her throne and the end of the Amazonian monarchy. During the war, Akila, the third Shim'tar, was gravely wounded, and the title was handed to Artemis, who accepted the name with pride. She now honourably guards Themyscira as the Shim'tar and often comes to the aid of Wonder Woman when she is needed. While their more peaceful Themyscirian sisters have their Wonder Woman, the warmonger Bana Mighdall Amazons, too, have their champion in the Shim'tar. It is basically the Bana Mighdall's counterpart of Wonder Woman. Although not granted powers by the Olympian gods like the Wonder Women, the Shim'tar are still formidable warriors by way of intensive training since early childhood in many forms of combat and wartime strategies. Artemis is no different. Like her namesake, the goddess Artemis, her weapon of choice is the bow-and-arrows. Even during her tenure as Wonder Woman, Artemis seldom used the Golden Lasso and much preferred her more offensive, not to mention deadly, bow-and-arrows.

My Blog

Should I ditch my Wonder Woman top 12?

I've grown weary of it. There is only one Wonder Woman I like on there anyway.
