I am inspired by the lives of the saints and by the holy catholic church which Jesus Christ established as his kingdom on earth. I have invited Christ into my life as he has invited us all to partake of his life. I consider all catholics to be post messianic jews. We are to take part in the new covenant which is the fullfillment of the old covenant through Jesus Christ the messiah, the king of the jews, the son of david, the second adam, Lord, savior, only son of god, and the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. In him and through him we have eternal life. In the old testament the israelites were required to eat a sacraficial lamb at passover and sprinkle its blood over their doorposts, and they ate manna (supernatural food from heaven) in the dessert to survive. In the new covenant and new testamnet we are told by jesus, the perfect sinless (unblemished) lamb of God and word of God that we must eat his flesh and drink his blood to have eternal life. He says to the jews and his followers " your ancestors ate the manna in the dessert, but they died;this is the bread that comes down from heaven so that one may eat it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven;whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world. the jews quarreled among themselves saying, 'how can this man give us his flesh to eat?' Jesus said to them, 'Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him"( John 6:49-56). I wish to remain in jesus and him in me and I want to become more and more like him every day. My hope is that everyone I meet will encourage me to cast off my old and evil nature so that I can put on christ and that they too will be encouraged to do the same. So that we may all unite in the one worthwhile goal of doing Gods will which is to become a part of Christ's body, the universal (catholic) church so that we may act as his hands and feet reaching out to those in need.
To sum it all up in one sentence I would like to quote Matthew Lickona who says " listen.I have a secret. I eat God, and I have his life in me. It's the best thing in the world; it leads to everlasting life. But first,you have to die to yourself"(278 swimming with scapulars).
