Through all the visions and experiences in my life, I’ve come to the point of asking myself what do I truly want and what do I truly need? I could say that I want to be famous or that I want to make a lot of money, but those possibilities will only develop in time. If I was to mold myself with these things in mind I would become very empty, alone and probably cold and bitter.
My desires are very simple and come from a different place.
I grew up on a country road in Boulder, CO, with my Dad, Mom and older brother. Fields of grass and weeds surrounded our little house. We lived with only what we needed. This gave us the opportunity to develop our intellect and creativity. We used our imagination when
playing games. We became very creative. We did a lot of artistic and building projects. We grew up with hard lessons, which developed patience, kindness and sensitivity.
I found my passion for music at a young age. It is an amazing thing to discover music. When you really feel the emotion with in a song. I could feel this beautiful emotion with some of the folk albums my parents used play. It was the rich, finger picking sound of the guitar and the full solid harmonies of the vocals. Melodies that took you on a journey. As a child I gravitated
towards Peter, Paul and Mary, Joni Mitchell, John Denver, Crosby Stills and Nash, Judy Collins, Carly Simon, James Taylor and the Beatles. I loved listening to my parent’s records.
I first started writing songs on the piano and then developed my sound on the guitar.
My early influences were Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, Enya, and Sheryl Crow. I have since come upon a number of outstanding performers that I admire, who have the same down to earth quality.
My hope is that with every word I sing, and with every melody you hear, I want my music to reach your soul. I want my music to take you somewhere else, out of your everyday life. I want my music to be like a warm blanket or the taste of fresh baked cookies on a cold day. The smell of rain, or just feeling the sunlight through the trees. This is my passion and joy, and it is all for you!
