About Me

Hi Team. New release for january 2009. It's my entry for a recent Remix competition set up by Verve music. The original song "I Can See" is by Jazzanova (the original track can be heard over here :http://www.myspace.com/jazzanovaskHope you enjoy my Roots Reggae version...skank it !NEW in JUNE 2008 : Latest remix ? Remember PWEI, the Poppies ? Or rather Pop Will Eat Itself ? Some of the band are still recording new material and they have just put up a new remix competiion for a track called "No fear"...a really catchy hybrid dance rock anthem. This here is my mix. I completely revisited the song keeping just the vocals and a few sound fx. The idea was to do concentrate on giving the song as much dynamic as possible. Hope you enjoy ! If you want to vote for it, you can go here : http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=1118747&t=6462O ther new projects include my dub pop remix of Ian Carey's smash hit "Keep On Rising". Tailored more for the sunny summer of 2008, I had a lot of fun with this one. This remix is the result of my participation in the recent FutureMusic Magazine competition that was organised by Ian Carey's record label...whether it has a chance or not of winning is besides the point of course...just hope that some of you can get skanking ! ...............................In 2007, Jo Publik released the TOTALLY UNofficial collection of his The Police remixes : "ReINVESTIGATIONS : The Police Derangements by Jo Publik". Of course because these were non commissioned by Universal and recieving nearly a thousand myspace plays a day, Jo had the pleasure of having to deal with Universal's leagl departement. Needless to say that Jo's "sling" had no effect on Goliath. The remixes had to be withdrawn from this site. If you're a fan however, I could find some way of getting to you if you email me directly.

“Ironically, the first time I ever heard The Police was on a bootleg cassette of Outlandos d’Amour that a school mate brought back for me from Saudi Arabia. I just loved the album immediately on first hearing, apart from two tracks that is. A few months later, I was meandering through the local record store in Taunton and came across the official LP. I discovered to my horror that the two tracks I didn’t like weren’t actually The Police, but instead a band of Saudi sound-alikes. I was so furious that I went home and spent the rest of the day taking my Cassette apart, and carefully slicing-off the offending piece of the tape using a razor blade. I suppose that’s where all this started…except now I don’t have to use sticky tape and screwdrivers anymore !” “ReINVESTIGATIONS is a collection of re-arranged, lobotomised, remixed and deranged tracks that, like Stewart’s own infamous Derangements, were produced using 99% The Police material…plus a smidgen of other things” Jo. This 7-song collection includes 2 new tracks that have never been available on Jo Publik’s MySpace before.“ReINVESTIGATIONS” tracklisting. This virtual collection of bastardised and deranged The Police songs will contain the following tracks : 1. Deathwalk 2. Masoka shadows 3. Next to fall 4. Every stand U take (with Ben E King) 5. A bigger moon 6. Can’t stand the spacejam 7. Can’t stand (Sorry Stewart mix) . ReINVESTIGATIONS: The Police Derangements by Jo Publik will be made available as a free download on the 31st of August 2007, day on which the download link will be made available.Remember, if you appreciate the tracks please send an Email to Lee Ellen Newman at Universal Music : [email protected] and say so. At the moment they don’t seem to agree, but you never know… JO [email protected] www.myspace.com/[email protected] www.myspace.com/jopublik
