THE JEFFRIES TUBES
If classification was completely necessary, one could simply describe The Jeffries Tubes as, "a Star Trek tribute band". However, it would be impossible to end the description there. Both humorous and insightful, the duo perfectly blend the two seemingly contradictory styles into one cohesive experience.
Although certain aspects of this experience can only be fully understood by avid Star Trek fans (as exemplified by the bands name), there are just as many facets that those not interested in the show will enjoy. The esoteric humor is combined with basic hilarity, and the two balance flawlessly.
The Jeffries Tubes also defy any kind of singular genre label; not because they see themselves as undefinable, so much as simply because they tap into so many different styles of music. Jeffries Tubes' songs range from rap to emo, and cover a wide bevy of other musical genres in between. The J-Tubes also take great care when choosing a genre for each character's song... Either they select a style that suits the character perfectly, or find one that is just inappropriate enough to be comical.
The Jeffries Tubes take exceptional care in the creation of their songs. Instead of loosely basing songs on a general character, style, or feel of the chosen tribute—as many tribute bands do—The J-Tubes meticulously select each word to properly represent the chosen situation. They feel that this is the only way to accurately deserve the title of "tribute band".
On their debut album, "Ten Forward", the 15 tracks expertly express the entire series of Star Trek: The Next Generation; each track corresponds to, and is sung by, a character from the show. Through exaggeration, the songs humorously depict actual situations, relationships, and character traits.
And so, with their album, The Jeffries Tubes have set off on their continuing mission to boldy go where no band has gone before...
