Rising out of the Orlando music scene, Don Legend (Qusai) & D-Light (Daniel) are underground hip-hop veterans. The two artists met in early 2000, introduced by a former manager/promoter, and formed a producer/artist relationship. They appeared onstage together for the first time at the UCF Hip Hop Festival in 2001, and soon afterwards began performing together regularly. Demand grew for a Don Legend & D-Light collaborative album, and as a result a new group was formed: URBAN LEGACY.
Urban Legacy’s style of music is called “Soul-Hopâ€: hip-hop with a unique touch of soul and an old-school feel. Coming from two different cultures and backgrounds, each member of Urban Legacy offers a different vision and style to bring to the group’s music and messages. The songs are very unique and powerful and their shows are successful.
Don Legend & D-Light have performed together as Urban Legacy at many different venues throughout Florida and the rest of the Southeast. Legend is the host/DJ of Underground Invasion, held every Wednesday night at the AKA Lounge in downtown Orlando. The weekly show, originated in 2002 by local Orlando R&B singer Anduze, provides a safe haven for talented local artists to showcase their skills and creativity. Plus Downtown Live on Sunday Nights at the AKA Lounge.
After several solo projects and releasing two EPs, The Unexpected and Underappreciated Versatility in 2003, NeoHip2DaHopSoul in 2004, and selling independently over thousand copies locally and nationally, Urban Legacy is set to release its first long-playing album, The Album 2005: A Musical Evolution. The album release party was held on Friday, March 25, 2005, at the AKA Lounge.
Don Legend & D-Light have paid their dues; they are well-developed, established talents with a lot of love, charisma, peace, and ambition. They are ready for the world, because the world needs to hear what they have to say. It is entertaining watching these guys…funky baby!
