Space Age Palmer

Swingin' Punkabilly from Edwardsville, IL

About Me

Space Age Palmer was a swingin' punkabilly band from Edwardsville, Illinois. The facts: Space Age Palmer was never called Space Age Polymer. It was a joke that lasted for like 10 seconds. Starting in 1996 in Rick's basement, Space Age was loathed from the beginning. Greg, Jason, and Andy worked at the library at SIUE together. Rick came from the unknown. Greg used to be in Snake Ranch and Rick used to manage Bionica. It was printed in the RFT one time that Andy played with the Dazzling Killmen...but he didn't. Jason was "the new guy". After 2 years of playing around St. Louis with bands like Pave the Rocket, The Oblivians, and The Vandals, SAP finally released their 12 song CD Venus on their own label, Sluggo Records. Several copies were sold, but most remain in the vaults at Sluggo Headquarters. People in Belgium loved the record - for the record. Really. Kopper played some tracks on KDHX's Wayback Machine and he put "Sinners Blues" on his Landlocked and Loaded compilation of St. Louis area bands. By 2000, it became apparent that most of the people in SAP didn't really want to be in it anymore. So it faded into nothingness. There are no unreleased tracks or anything to speak of - just some crummy basement recordings. Rick went on to join Keyop and Operation:Rock. Jason went on to join The Cradles, The Physical Jerks, The Detainees, and Left Arm. Andy has enjoyed stints in Pu Chi Jazz and a few other bands. "Frog" has gone into retirement once again.
