From its beginnings as a class at the College of Santa Fe, New Mexico, to its eventual evolution into a performance ensemble, Mediterraneans collective enthusiasm for music from the Balkans and the middle east has had an infectious and joyfull effect on its audiences. It is traditional music played with a contemporary sensibility. Mediterranean presents this music in the spirit of respect for the cultures and the teachers we learned them from.
