Now playing: Red 44
The name R.E.D. is an acronym shortening the multi-word phrase, Rappin-Every-Day. The surname 44 symbolizes two lowercase “h†characters, inverted vertically (hh), also forming an acronym, shortening "Hip Hop!"
Born in the small town of Carthage, Illinois, Red met his destiny when he moved to Milwaukee as a child. With a strong southern family and a rapidly growing city backing him up, all that's missing is the hip-hop community getting better acquainted with R.E.D. 44.
With many years of creative musical experience and 26 years of life, Red has carved out an original personality that is displayed in his music. Innovative & creative, Red produces, writes, performs & directs all engineering for his material. He is very independent, ambitious and illustrates soul & rhythm for creating remarkable music.
Red received 20,000+ votes through MySpace.com to allow him to be a part of Sony Music’s ‘Stomp The Yard’ soundtrack. His track “Bounce Wit Me†was included and is currently one of the most downloaded songs on the album.
Red has performed at major events across the Midwest, opening for major-label musical acts such as 112, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and America’s best battle DJ, DJ Rectangle. He has also received regional press in print and radio spins on Milwaukee's hottest urban stations.
As the Chief Engineer of Wisconsin's largest, Grammy Award-winning studio, Trax 52, Red had the opportunity to engineer & co-produce Rap-A-Lot recording artists Do or Die. During Red’s entire venture at Trax 52, he did extensive studio work producing & engineering for Sony Music's and Universal Music's artist development teams.
