About Me

Young black men have found it hard to escape the fast-paced life of crime due to their environments, absent fathers, and dealing with the rejection of American. Scoupe has been no exception. Growing up on the east end of Lexington, KY, David Parker (a.k.a. Scoupe) was one of the 53% of young black men in America that had no father figure in his life. Having to deal with the tragic death of his cousin, a heroin-addicted father, and then the death of his beloved grandfather in 1999, Scoupe found comfort in dealing with the reality of life through writing lyrics. Although he dealt with more than what most teenagers are accustomed to, Scoupe always maintained the confidence and faith that better times were ahead. Now at 24 years old, Scoupe’s life experiences have helped him emerge into a remarkable man and an impeccable artist. Scoupe possesses a unique voice, powerful punch lines, and a swagger that many find hard to carry. He has been recognized by many heavy hitting producers, A&Rs, and DJs in the industry, including J Prince - CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records stating, “Scoupe is an artist with talent that is much needed in the game.” Many that have heard Scoupe’s music find it hard to believe that he hails from the horse capital. He has overwhelmingly contradicted the “country” stereotype placed on Kentucky by incorporating his intelligence, confidence, and creativity into his lyrical talent. He has managed to set himself aside from many artists in the south by creating his own style and rap group, NHB (No Holding Back). Scoupe has proven himself to be a powerful voice in the music industry and the talent he possesses will not be denied.
