Wow, it's been over a year since, at the behest of a friend, I set up this page. I've found myself adding and substracting a little at a time; but never giving this extension of myself the overhaul it deserves, despite my life undergoing much revision.

"When I think of all the harm the Bible has done, I despair of ever writing anything to equal it."
-- Oscar Wilde

I'm 42 years old and some say too damn old to be here on myspace. That's probably true; but I've made some good friends here and reconnected with several others. It's an interesting journey and I'll not be abandoning it anytime soon.

I've been a programmer for about 12 years; but I've also been a cook, a bartender, a salesman and I've had numerous other soul-crushing jobs in my life. I've made a serious hobby out of photography, not as a second career; but as a creative outlet for energies I didn't know I had as recently as 3 or 4 years ago. I'm available to help with model portfolios, portraiture, commercial and stock photography and would love to collaborate with artists on any worthwhile project.

"Feminism encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
-- Pat Robertson

There are a lot of different ways for most people to identify themselves; and I am no exception. Most importantly, I'm the father of two beautiful girls, currently 14 and 6. They are the fuel for all my fires.

I am the fortunate boyfriend of a truly exceptional woman who has brought me a lot of peace and happiness this past year.

Although born in Boston, I consider myself a native of Jacksonville Florida. With a few exceptions, I've been here all my life. It's an imperfect but really great town.

I am an atheist; and sometimes, I must admit, an angry one. I frankly resent the upswing in the role of religion in the public sphere. After years of quietly nursing my healthy skepticism; I'm finding it really difficult to sit idly by while people who claim to know things they cannot possibly know, steadily push science and reason out of our public discourse.

"We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart"
-- H. L. Mencken

Finally, I am a photographer. I am often taken to task for the fact that my favorite subject is often women. Let me just be clear about this. I believe natural selection's crowning achievement is the human body and any attempt to capture that near miraculous beauty is relevant, worthwhile and valid. There is simply no room for debate in my mind. If you don't care for it, then move on.

If, on the other hand, you are intriqued enough to want to learn more, I have a site of my photography up at http://www.thefaceofthings.org . I have some pictures posted below to give you an idea; but they are within the confines of the limits set by myspace. A visit to my personal site, particularly my ever-evolving gallery, should clarify things better than words ever could.

NOTE: Please scroll my page for pics. Pics uploaded on myspace are looking like ass. Can't have that now can we?

And now here's something we hope you'll really like.

The Money Poo...

Ugh, you just had to bring that up, didn't ya? Yeah, we gotta talk about that money thang. I'm serious about my photography and for that reason I've invested a lot of time, effort and yes, money, into it. I have to make some back. Otherwise, this is just a very expensive hobby and I have enough of those already. BUT, before you read the prices and run away, remember I'm a reasonable guy and we can discuss most things. In particular, if you are offering print work (CD covers, calendars, magazine runs greater than 100 with solid distribution, etc.) or public exhibition (open website, gallery etc.) then we can almost certainly work something out.

Model Portfolios: Model portfolios range in price from $200 to $500 depending on how long we shoot, what you need to shoot, your history and print prospects, editing time and quantity of output.

Beginning June 2007 all paid shoots include a makeup artist. Not a makeup artist for which you are charged extra; but a professionally trained makeup artist included in the same great protfolio development prices I have always offered.

Weddings: Sorry, I am no longer interested in shooting weddings. But I wish you much happiness as you start your life together. I can and will recommend a great wedding photographer on request.

Portraits: Individual and Family type portraits are also available. Portrait sittings are free for the first 15 minutes with your commitment to purchase $25 or more in prints.

Stock, Spec and Event Work: It's impossible to cover all the bases here; but again, remember I am committed to being fair and reasonable with you, particularly if print opportunities are offered. Base rate for shooting time is $60 per hour. Makeup artist is included in this price where appropriate.

Prints: If you see something here or on another page of mine that you'd like a print of, let me know. 8 x 10s start at $10 if I have the release to sell them. Prints don't carry big copyright statement, just a small sig in the lower right corner.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Richard Feynman, Patrick Stewart, Cate Blanchett (personal message to Cate: I know you want me), Tom Cruise (just to laugh at his stupid ass), The Star Wars Kid (why punish the guy just because the rest of us never got caught?), John Adams (yeah, I know, he's dead), John Denver (also dead), David Brin, Mark Helprin, Tibor Fischer (writer's row), Richard Dawkins, Stephen Gould, Charles Darwin (what's with all the dead guys?), The Amazing Randi, Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny

I could go on forever; but I gotta stop somewhere. Maybe I'll add more later. If you read all that, you're cool as hell just for sticking it out.

A reason...

It is commonly said, and perhaps even believed, that people come into your life for a reason. Rubbish. They do NOT. They come into your life by dumb, and hopefully happy, accident. Now when they leave...
