In his past life, 26 year old Brooklyn native Chris McGuinness was a NYC DJ producing electronic music and hip hop tracks for the likes of Busta Rhymes, Mobb Deep, Kool Keith and Mos Def.
At the turn of 2006 he travelled across the world to India and Asia in pursuit of exotic sounds. He had no idea nor intention that this would lead to finding a new home in Bombay and producing songs listened to by a billion people. He regularly plays at India's best clubs such as Poison (Mumbai), Enigma (Mumbai), Fashion TV Bar (New Delhi), BnC (Hyderabad), and Soho (Calcutta), as well as festivals around the world this year from Thailand to Canada. He has been featured by the majority of India's major publications and TV networks, including Rolling Stone, Time Out, Hindustani Times, and VH1.
In 2008 his music has been released in the films De Taali, Ugli Aur Pagli, Woodstock Villa, Maangaye Mughal-E-Azam, Kacha Nimbu, Allah Ke Bande. 2007 releases include Don, Bhagam Bhag, and Kudiyon Ka Hai Zamaana. He operates production company Chor Bazaar with partner IshQ Bector, with clients ranging across the board from film music directors Anu Malik, Vishal Shekhar, Pritam, Harris Jayaraj, to a host of ad agencies and pop artists...there is just too much to list. His musical style is a blend of traditional folk idioms with contemporary electronic sounds.
His live DJ and Video Jockey sets are characterized by high energy genre bending, cutting, mashing up, scratching and turntablism, often surprising the audience with his ability to cut in and make everyone dance to unexpected classics.
