I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm a Chicago native now living in southeast Wisconsin, but will soon be moving back to Illinois temporarily (by September). I've been married for 22 years and I have 4 kids, ages 16-21. I'd describe myself as casual, creative, and friendly, and I also have a good sense of humor. But I'm definitely a thinker, and I love to read and learn.

My Interests

I love nature and wildlife, and I'm interested in pursuing a career as a Park Naturalist. I'm hoping to attend college in 2007. Better late than never, right? I'm also interested in learning a little astronomy and nature photography. I practice beginner's yoga and I've been a vegetarian for about 1 1/2 years. I enjoy a good laugh with friends, but I can also be a bit of a smart-ass...LOL. I like to read, write, and work crossword puzzles (that is, whenever it's quiet here). I love libraries, which I guess makes me a nerd. I also love my computer so I must be a geek, too. I enjoy interior decorating (lately I'm into Eco-Modern); I have a few ongoing natural collections (rocks, shells, & quartz); and I love the zoo, the woods, the lakefront, and museums.

I'd like to meet:

All of my online friends! Oh, and Hugh Jackman if he's available...LOL.

Music:

I listen to Alternative and Classic Rock. My favorite bands are Aerosmith and the Foo Fighters. I also am a fan of Cat Stevens.

Movies:

My favorite actors are Hugh Jackman, Gerard Butler, Aidan Quinn, Johhny Depp, and Adrian Brody. My favorite movies are Pirates of the Caribbean and Van Helsing. I also love the twisted humor of Monty Python movies, as well as horror movies and movies set in medieval times.

Television:

I don't watch TV often, but I like HGTV, Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery Channel, and Comedy Central. I also enjoy Jeopardy and Oprah.

Books:

I usually read non-fiction books and magazines based on my interests. I also like to daydream my way through catalogs while in the bathtub...LOL.I'm currently reading "Chicken Soup for the Nature Lover's Soul" by Jack Canfield.

Heroes:

The people who have influenced me most in my life are:My mother (with her down-to-earth wisdom, endless strength, and fantastic sense of humor). My father (who passed on to me his love of nature, practicality, and MacGuyver-like ingenuity). My grandfather (for instilling his love of reading and learning in me).My godmother (who loved me as her own and spoiled me rotten). My sister (who sets a wonderful example of love, compassion, and forgiveness).

My Blog

Nothing Can Justify It

It's barbaric, inaccurate, unnecessary, and completely unacceptable...but they disguise it as "science and research". Animal product testing is even more horrific than factory farming, which...

Materialistic or Naturalistic?

I am sunburnt. I held a yard sale over the weekend trying to raise a little extra cash and I was too busy to even think about using sunblock. Right now, I have the rosiest cheeks ever...LOL....
