Social Outcast UB

About Me

Formed in the early summer of 2001. Social Outcast UB is a band NOBODY thought would last as long as they did, and NOBODY ever thought would achieve what they did! The story begins when Louie's Drunken Experiment had ended and guitarist Matt Overstreet and singer Louis Money wanted to form a new band with a heavier sound and edge. Louie had met drummer Bill Houston and the 2 decided to jam together. On the first jam session, the 3 saw the potential for a band that would take them to all the places and in the direction, they all felt, they needed to go. September 2001, saw the addition of bass player Ziggy Johnson and the band started playing live shows to very receptive crowds. By January 2002, Ziggy's musical tastes in the band differed greatly and left the band to pursue a solo acoustic act. He was replaced by Eric Mathis and a second guitar player, Jeff Byrd was also added in March of 2002. Within the 5 ensemble line-up, the band started gathering a following around North Carolina, as well as, South Carolina, and Atlanta, Ga. The force was now in full force until December of 2002. Due to personal issues, Eric decided to leave the group and was quickly replaced with Tere Everhart(ex-Epsilon Zero/Muddjunkie). By, March of 2003 Tere was replaced with Chris Gilley and the band started hitting the road FULL FORCE, once again. By July of 2003 Chris had decided to leave the group(but fill-in for shows), and was replaced by Jaime Bowers, in September. Also, in the month of July, drummer Bill Houston decided it was his time to be replaced, as the focus of the band had changed. He, too, also helped the band out until November 8th, 2003. That was Bill's final gig and the very final gig of the original Social Outcast UB at Somewhere Else Tavern. Bill was replaced with a drummer named Chris Fulp, who didn't last long and the band disbanded after two gigs. This page is a memorial to a band that enjoyed the company of each other, as well as "kicking out the jams" for their friends and fans!
