Texas Metal Underground was founded in January 2001 as a means to preserve the legacy of the classic Texas metal scene. At that time there was a scarcity of online information about many of the classic Texas metal bands that had been formed in the 1980’s, released a demo or two, and then vanished without a trace. Without YouTube, MySpace, and widespread file sharing networks, acquiring knowledge about some of these long-neglected bands and hearing the demos they produced back in the 1980’s could be a difficult prospect. Our aim was to provide a website that not only cast a nostalgic look to the past, but also allowed new fans a chance to hear and see some of the great bands that Texas produced during the 1980’s underground metal heyday.
It was, and remains, the goal of TexasMetalUnderground.com to serve as a repository and archive of the classic Texas metal scene through exclusive interviews, flyer and t-shirt galleries, audio and video downloads, rare photos, and other related ephemera. It’s a constant work in progress...stay tuned!
