I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, living around the lakefront communities in Macomb and Oakland counties through college. Newspapering. Love the coffee and conversation. Sigma Pi Fraternity. Traded in lakes for corn fields and became a Hoosier in 2004, moving to the southside of Indianapolis to work for a small daily newspaper. Now working for a legal newspaper that comes out twice a month - no more chasing tornados, just talking with lawyers and judges all day.Been a Type 1 diabetic since age 5. Insulin-pumping since May 2001, currently on the Deltec Cozmo. Married in September 2005, and my beautiful wife Suzi and I bought our first house in Greenwood! Let's just say housing prices rock here compared to Michigan... I may be a Hoosier, but loyalties lie into Detroit. ..

My Interests

People-watching. Talking to strangers. Rapier wit and intelligence... also known as coffee and conversation Linda's/Ram's Horn-style. Writing. Listening. Playing with the dog. Searching for new films that can be added to the ever-expanding movie quote list. Making new friends, experiencing life with old ones.

I'd like to meet:

Anyone that has a good story to tell.... Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, .

Music:

Tom Petty and Bon Jovi are by far the best. Any classic rock. And 80s. Can't argue with the 90s. Hey, I listen to pretty much everything.

Television:

ESPN, CNN and local news stations are usually on in the background. Heroes, Smallville - the story-writing is captivating. Family Guy. Law and Order, the original version. Too bad they cancelled West Wing.

Books:

Too many on the shelf to count... Currently in the throws of "The Case for Faith" by Lee Strobel, which is a journalist's personal investigation of the evidence for Jesus. Next up: "The Bible - A Biography" (by Karen Armstrong)

Heroes:

Lucky Seven: My parents, as cliche as it may be. Others include high school and college newspaper mentors, Linda Bejma and Jane Briggs-Bunting. In the writing world: Free Press columnist and sportswriter Mitch Albom and longtime friend Kari, who can trump most when it comes to poetry or prose. And my wife, for putting up with me and being able to continue being the light of my life.

Winterizing

That crispness in the air is turning into a cold chill that means the inevitable return of winter. Temps are getting into the 30s at night, and in the next week will top out during the day at 48. ...

Let me rephrase that....

We took a four-day trip to Michigan this past weekend. For a long-awaited wedding and relaxing time. What I've previously written doesn't do the trip, or the experience, justice. So here's anothe...

Napkins and notes

Buried in an office file cabinet, a beat up old black tri-folding folder keeps safe some of my written memories going back to high school. A decade old, the poetry and prose alike hits at the hig...

An expressway away from the Twilight Zone

Regardless of your particular interest or knowledge of sci-fi productions, there does exist a Twilight Zone. We don't have to travel to the far reaches of our imaginations, or even the TV or movie sc...
