Hard work, determination, faith and talent equal an unmovable force of success. This beautiful artist is a singer, songwriter, musician and entrepreneur. Christene doesn’t just work hard for herself but for everyone that have either touched her or is touched by her. When asked of her inspiration, she states, “What motivates me to write is the need to express my own or others’ feelings. I want to say what other people want to say but can’t because of fear, social norms, or lack of words.”
Christene was born on the islands of the Philippines and moved to Dallas, TX at the age of 9. “It was a big culture shock,” the young artist says, “but it gives me a good balance of perspectives.” With a vision of impacting the entertainment industry, Christene started early and founded a student organization on her college campus on December 2008 called Talent Recruitment Entertainment Agency Team, or TREAT, purposed to train, equip, and launch performing artists on college campuses.
The 21-year-old’s unique blend of Pop, Soul, and Ethnic R&B gives her an international appeal that has helped build her online fan base all over the world. She has performed in three continents including Asia and Central America. Christene’s online single release “Never leave” in 2006 received over 30,000 media plays on the internet during its first month, along with radio play and mixtape exposures. She topped that with the online release of “Through the Struggle” in early 2007, which received 45,000 plays within the first month.
With her dynamic stage presence, captivating voice, and magnetic charm, the rising star’s potential is undeniable. Fans comment that Christene’s “voice is like an angel’s,” and “her lyrics are real and relatable.” Her originally-written tracks such as “That’s What It Is,” which talk about a young woman realizing her beauty despite the criticisms of her own loved one, and “What It Do,” which suggests ways to respond to ridiculous pick-up lines, capture audiences’ attentions from all backgrounds. “I’ve moved residences a lot, and what I’ve witnessed and learned from all the places I’ve lived in I kind of blend together,” states Christene.
Whether she is writing songs, rocking the stage, or creating organizations, it’s clear that Christene has a lot to offer. “There’s so much more to any opportunity than meets the eye, ‘cause there’s always something new to learn and add on,” declares the package-artist. The roots of her artistry stem so deeply and appear to be flourishing even more by the day.
