About Me

I will never forget the first time I heard the singing of the Corn Maidens as we drove passed a field in Ohio. The first time I saw a tree in a field in Mississippi and thought "That's MY tree" or the first time I dreamt and saw the world within my books play out before my eyes like a familiar memory (M Theory anyone?). Writing has always been my sanity and I had ruined many a relationship to keep it. Dating a writer, let alone any artist is never easy, but at least with a writer, you know that when they say they can't see you it's because we're banging away on a keyboard and not a bimbet backstage or some such...usually (lol). Truth? I'm about as eclectic as they come, former lovers have opened dictionaries to figure out what I'd just called them in my younger years. So, single is simpler...and my soul thrives on a drama-free life because my mind is forever whirly-gigging. I know that one day I'll meet another soul that can stoke my flame instead of smothering it, but until that time, I'll revel around a bonfire, laugh with the stars and let the ocean caress and cradle me.(Second Edition cover of Twilight Calling available now!) I first began writing Twilight Calling in 2000, after being on mandatory bed rest while pregnant with my second daughter. I was in and out of the hospital three or four times a week and utterly terrified that I was going to lose the child that had already told me her name. She was born without a cry on a warm May afternoon, but I could not shake the knowing that she would only be here for a brief time. I made a bargain to keep her longer, and it was after that barter that the dreams began. I do not plan out my books, nor do they truly feel like "mine". I sit in front of the computer, and the voices and broken images start flying passed my eyes, unwilling to let me sleep for the night until I have written them. I never know the ending of the books I write, nor who will live or die within them. A time or two I have tried to change a scene, to save a character that I had grown fond of, and writer's block immediately takes hold until I correct my alteration. Many have asked my religion, for Raina is pagan and the Craft is spoken of freely in the book, mainly because The Lady first found me at 13. From there I learned that the eyes lie and that there are far more people like me than I ever imagined. As I grew, so did my knowledge of world religions, taking what felt right to me from each until I am as I am now. The closest I can come to it is Zen-Pagan, it's a spirituality that recognizes that everything is connected, nothing is impossible, and coincidence...isn't. I have just finished writing my third book in the world of Twilight called 'Dark Beauty', (look for the owner of that sleepless few years, Cynarra, on my Friends list), and am working on a conglomerate of short stories called Twilight Tales, and the 4th book, Twilight Falling. So please, be welcome in my world...
