About Me

I am available for function gigs for a wide variety of styles - jazz/disco/RnB/soul/pop/nu jazz etc. I also teach the piano, offering a fun way to start playing, or more hard core jazz theory if you can take it! I've been playing piano since I was 4 (my favourite age). I started off classical and moved to jazz and alternative music when I reached the age of 12ish. After afew teachers I am still unsure of where I want my musical style to go, but to be honest, thats the way I like it. At the moment I like to say my style is on the brink into contemporary but I play whatever is needed. I graduated from Southampton University this year and am now gigging regularly and also teaching throughout the week. I am always up for playing with new people and am always up for playing a new style at least once!

My Interests

Music:

Influences: The first influence has to be my Dad! might not be playing piano at all if it wasn't for him!

The man who got me seriously interested in jazz is the legend Oscar Peterson. I just wanted to be able to move move my fingers as fast as him! But to be honest itll take a good 50 years of practice to get close to the legendary OP.

So Oscar started my love for jazz but many more continued it. Some of the more prominent ones are Brad Mehldau, Brian Kellock, Bill Evans (on the piano side of things), others are Dave O'Higgins, Paul Desmond, Buddy Rich, and very importantly, the people I play with!
