Don't Survive Life. Live It

About Me

Music is the flood gate to emotion.
A reflection of the lyrics it encompasses
conveying the sense of anything that comes to heart.
What I wouldnt give for that gift.
That ability that so sweetly stimulates the senses
or what so mercilessly destroys them.
The power to move my world or to shatter it within the sanctity of a piece of paper
dabbed with the systematic stains of hope and love
or of fear and doubt.
What I wouldn't give for that gift.
The gift of song that could bring you to tears
and just as easily lead you to cry on my shoulder,
purging your soul of all it's hatred
and refining to bring your love to me.
How I could touch you and my surrounding humanity
just as the melodies of others have so touched me.
And with that, I could die satisfied,
contented to know I fulfilled my soul's one passionate purpose:
to bring my affections together
just to pull your heart strings apart.
And my inner turmoil will have ceased
and I could finally be at peace with myself.
What I wouldnt give for that gift
to purify your souls with something so innocent
and to close my eyes and breathe my last
with a clear mind and no regrets.

I am done trying to make this site sound formal. I decided I want the world to realize that we artists are real people, with real dreams, real personalities, real feelings and emotions. I want people to know we are real, and we are not robots. We do these things because we love it. Some of us may not be sterotypically "successful" but if we can make one person smile with the beautiful music we put the very essence of ourselves into, then we are successful and true to ourselves and our passion. My stage name is Kira Nichole, and I'm an aspiring solo artist from Bourbonnais, Illinois. Now twenty years old, I have been singing since I was about three years old or so, now looking to be discovered. Though my most popular genres are country and opera/classical, I really want to do Alternative/Goth Rock and/or Celtic style music.
I'd also like to thank Pat Polk for her sponsorship in helping me get started in all of this. Without her starting boost, I wouldn't be where I am.

Below are some of the recent pieces from a concert I just recently performed on Tour of Illinois and Missouri with Millikin University's Concert Choir. For those unaware, a requiem is traditionally a "mass for the dead". These are often inspired by humanity's natural fear of what lies beyond death, and with hopes that it is something better, something greater. Within these contain desperation in that fear, as well as prayers for those who have passed on. As John Rutter translates Requiem Aetarnam "Grant them rest eternal" and throughout the pieces goes on with "And light perpetual shine on them forever".
I hope you enjoy the music, as we all put so much of ourselves into it! That being said, 2005 was a particularly difficult year for me. I lost many of those I loved and cared about, and the very inspiration that for a long time I forgot i still had in me. With that, I would like to dedicate these requiems to those I have lost, and who I miss every single day.
Judith Ann Hartsell - My beloved mother
Nicole Marie Sunberg - My greatest mentor
Evelyn Dandurand - My cousin

Let that light give you peace and rest, my beloveds...

Nicole Marie Sunberg

Kira's role model and friend. Nicole Sunberg was a beautiful young woman who was not only extremely gifted in music, acting, and intelligence, she was a great friend to all and always had a smile on her face. The words said here could not even begin to express the true light that was Nicole Sunberg. Unfortunately, she was taken from this world tragically in a car accident during an Ice Storm, returned to her true home, but leaving the world to weep in sorrow. But to this day, those touched by her try to remember the lessons she taught while she was here.

Musical Influence: Amy Steinberg, who she's had the fortune of meeting in person and completely inspired by. Billy Gilman, who she grew up listening to and imitating, Madonna for her gifts for reinvention, and other just plain greats like Amy Lee, Charlotte Church, and Jefferson Airplane.
Sounds Like: Kira believes herself to have a unique sound, once described by an instructor as "wolfie". Any other descriptions her audience would like to submit in testimony, please send a message and it will be displayed. Kira appreciates her listeners' opinions, as it helps her learn and grow as an artist.
