Family The Label/Def Jam
When it comes to the second wave of Hip Hop exponents in Greece, there's no doubt that Taraxias is one of the first names that would cross one's mind. The 25 y/o Athenean became initially known as the mind of hardcore rap group's Alpha Gamma in the late 90s, but there's more before that. Taraxias was also the main man in the New Clear Sonics (circa 1995), the group that later developed to Agnosti Gnosti. When the rest of the members departed for their own reasons, Taraxias recruited 2 mcs and DJ Jimmy Dee, and kept the A.G. flame burning. A lawsuit from a rock group bearing a similar name led to the adaptation of Alpha Gamma (the Greek initials of the two words), despite the fact Taraxias and his posse had been around longer than the winning side.
Alpha Gamma shocked the public in 2000 with the release of Neoellina Akou EP. Raw rhymes and hardcore rhymes found their way on mainstream television with the self titled, and it wasn't long before Alpha Gamma went on to release their full-length effort, Agnostophobia (2001). The shock was bigger this time; the video for Arketa Gia Na Mathenis was banned from television! With things flowing this way, their label backed out from all promotion plans and A.G. were stuck in a limbo.
Taraxias joined the Hellenic Air Force in 2002 for his mandatory service. It was evident that the group was headed towards the exit, with each member following his own path.
2004 saw the return of Taraxias in the ranks of Greece's premiere Hip Hop label, Family. After opening for Cypress Hill, Taraxias started working on his first solo album. The release saw the light in late 2005 - Diatarahi was a fact...Tarakounise Tous, the first single off the album, already receives major air play, while the video for the track is on constant rotation in music channels in Greece.
Taraxias was also featured in the Golden Edition of La Sagrada Familia, Goin' Through's gold selling album, in the track " - Evro", while he also appears in numerous tracks in the groups new project, titled Vendetta.
After his rather succesful set as an opening act for Busta Rhymes, Taraxias toured Greece alongsides Goin' Through. If Taraxias is performing around your area, don't miss his show. Taraxias knows how to start fires on stage...
Stay tuned.
