With melodic and emotionally intense songs, One Up have established themselves in the hardcore scene over the past three years. With a busy schedule of constant shows and touring, One Up have proven, beyond a doubt, that they are here to stay. Sharing a passion for hardcore and the music they love is what drives One Up to continue creating music and pushing the boundaries of what fast hardcore can be.
In April of 2002, One Up made their first trip into the studio as a band, to record their now sought after five song demo. With a vintage-sounding recording, care of Mike Stankovich at Basement Screams Studios in DC, One Up quickly garnered a following on the East Coast and beyond. This demo cassette proved to be the foundation they would later build upon on later releases.
The summer of 2002 also marked the band's first of three appearances at the famous Positive Numbers Festival in Wilkes Barre. This show cemented the band's popularity across the entire U.S. hardcore scene. After the fest, the band concentrated on writing what would become their debut CDEP, entitled "It's Time to Believe". This record continues where the demo left off, all while showing the growth and potential of things to come. Soon after the release of "It's Time to Believe", One up set off on their first US tour with friends Coalition (Fight Fire with Fire Records) to support the record.
For the next year, One Up consistently shared the stage with bands such as Bane, With Honor, Comeback Kid, The Promise, The First Step, Mental, Blue Monday, 100 Demons, Full Blown Chaos, and Modern Life is War; to name a few. One Up even got to share the stage with Youth Of Today and Mouthpiece at their reunion shows in June of 2004.
One Up's latest release, titled "The More Things Change" was released in June of 2004. This record showcases a more mature sound from their demo and previous EP, all while still retaining the fast hardcore sound of these previous records. "The More Things Change" is a testament to the fact that One Up are not afraid to grow as musicians and as people. With song's dealing with topics as varying as addiction, depression, and life's losses, this record has something for everyone. Finding a unique voice over the cries of the masses is an extremely hard thing to do in this world, but One Up have found their voice and are ready for the world to hear. The only question is, are you ready to listen?
