About Me

I'm a very honest person (too honest sometimes i think), pretty laid back, really into music, like to hit up happy hr for a few drinks, go out out weekends, etc. People have also told me that I'm an "instigator" (whatever that means). My new job has kept me pretty busy, but i love what i do. Not sure what else, if you want to know just ask.
This in a nutshell describes my job:
A sysadmin unpacked the server from its box, installed an operating system, patched it for security, made sure the power and air conditioning was working in the server room, monitored it for stability, set up the software, and kept backups in case anything went wrong. A sysadmin installed the routers, laid the cables, configured the networks, set up the firewalls, and watched and guided the traffic for each hop of the network that runs over copper, fiber optic glass, and even the air itself to bring the Internet to your computer. A sysadmin makes sure your network connection is safe, secure, open, and working. A sysadmin makes sure your computer is working in a healthy way on a healthy network. A sysadmin takes backups to guard against disaster both human and otherwise, holds the gates against security threats and crackers, and keeps the printers going no matter how many copies of the tax code someone from Accounting prints out. A sysadmin worries about spam, viruses, spyware, but also power outages, fires and floods. When the email server goes down at 2 AM on a Sunday, your sysadmin is paged, wakes up, and goes to work. A sysadmin is a professional, who plans, worries, hacks, fixes, pushes, advocates, protects and creates good computer networks, to get you your data, to help you do work -- to bring the potential of computing ever closer to reality. Your sysadmin is only one of dozens or possibly hundreds whose work brings you the email from your aunt on the West Coast, the instant message from your son at college, and the free phone call from the friend in Australia.

My Interests

Women, making fun of people who dont have a picture on myspace, partying, working out, racquetball, music, scuba diving, flying (going to start working on my privates soon), not giving piggy-back rides (ask heather), laughing (i can't be serious all day long, come on...you have to be able to laugh at yourself and others), kicking back and relaxing with a couple drinks, working (although not an "interest" its what I spend a lot of my time doing), etc.

I'd like to meet:

Good question...I guess anyone in my current line of work or who inspires or entertains me. Anyone who doesn't deal with drama and who is fun to be around, also likes to have a good time no matter what. Someone who doesn't need to have my constant attention at every moment. I'd also like to meet Michael Dell, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs (in that order), or anyone who has proved people wrong by doing the "impossible".

"Never make someone your priority when you're just their option"

I am 19% Idiot.
.. I am not annoying at all. In fact most people come to me for advice. Of course they annoy the hell out of me. But what can I do? I am smarter than most people. Take the Idiot TestI am 28% Geek.
.. You probably work in computers, or a history deptartment at a college. You never really fit in with the "normal" crowd. But you have friends, and this is a good thing. Take the Geek Test

Music:

I like a lot of different types of music depending on my mood. I'm not a big fan of country or bluegrass twang; however pop-country is bearable. I can appreciate music for the talent it requires.

Movies:

Napoleon Dynamite, Office Space, The Burbs, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Fight Club, Starsky & Hutch, Zoolander, Uncle Buck, Road Trip, Half Baked, Eurotrip, The Girl Next Door, Dumb and Dumber, American History X, soooooo many others

Television:

Seinfeld (best television show ever), Family Guy, American Dad, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, History Channel, Military Channel, I would rather watch something remotely informational rather than some stupid reality show. I don't really watch a lot of TV, I'm not really even at home that much.

Books:

The Catcher In The Rye, stuff by Ayn Rand, computer books for work (ye...i guess that makes me a dork, oh well). I used to love to read, but then I went to college, now I don't even really have time.

Heroes:

Any "out of the norm" person who has been successful in their line of work by getting there without a "handout" and working hard to earn their position. Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, Michael Dell they even dropped out of college and now head very successful/influential companies.
