www.ocvoiceteacher.comI recently graduated from Columbia with a BA in English and, of course, floundered around for a few months, trying to figure out what on earth one does with an English degree. I tried everything imaginable, from publishing, to writing, to musical-theatre instruction, to assistant choral directing, to children's fitness! I even became certified as a yoga instructor. Finally, I fell into voice and piano teaching and I ended up falling in love with the career. I knew it was all over for me when my 6-year-old French-speaking student told me in broken English after a few lessons, "I...euh...love...euh...piano." It was like a scene out of a really bad, cheesy movie. Except in the movie, the girl would be deaf, mute, and mildly autistic, and "I...love... piano" would be her first miraculous words.Myspace Backgrounds
