Find Your Way Out On Sale Now!
September 1999 a side project began. John Simmonds, former drummer and co-founder of Canadian punk legends Another Joe, and the power pop phenom Willis, began work on a collection of songs of his own. Having just started building his own recording studio, time was spent mostly on producing and or performing on many other artists albums. As the years kept on passing, and his side project was pushed further and further back, finally in the summer of 2004 John went into the studio to once again begin recording what would become the The Assassination - Find Your Way Out album.
Even with the new found energy back in the project, it still wasn't immune from distractions of other tempting projects. Eventually John would finish recording in the fall of 2004. However mixing didn't start for another several months and was put on hold frequently. It wasn't until December of 2005 that the mix was finalized and mastering could begin.
The Find Your Way Out album is to be officially released by Worn Records, March of 2006, only seven and half years after it was first started. This album hits new standards of rock and roll that John Simmonds had never attempted before. Not only did he perform every instrument on the album, but produced it as well as engineered it. He also designed the artwork for the packaging. Indeed this is the epitome of "solo project".
In November of 2005, John recruited former Willis bass player, Mike Adair, Misconducts guitar player, Johnny Walker, and drummer extraordinaire Tim Busa, to complete a line-up allowing John Simmonds to step out from behind the kit and take on the roll of guitar playing vocalist. This quartet quickly transformed a side project into a rock and roll power house. The Assassination, is the driving force behind the resurgence of good hard edged music with an old school sound, and a new school attitude. Rock music is meant to be played loud and project an emotional response in its listeners. The Assassination does just that. Its not background music, it will fight its way into your ear drums, kick your brain around for a while, before settling in right behind your eyes, where it will watch and listen as you take in the experience that is an Assassination on rock & roll.
