Founding members Kevin Paul and T-Bone Thompson continue with the newest lineup of the project that started in Nashville a pleasant few years ago now. Ohio's original spicy Wunderkid found his way to the cold North and has settled convincingly into the keyboard job, then local hermit and dark mystic "Big Money" Dale Owen returned from his sojourn in the East to step in on bass. Now that everyone is calling themselves "multiinstrumentalist" these days, we won't brag, but just casually mention saxophones and other instruments are occasionally swapped out for those listed above.
In the rolling North Country hills, with nothing but time on our hands, The Musical Ruse has been applying Thompson's well-schooled "Supa-Drum" techniques to expansive chordal journeys built on the spot in our special "Jam Cave". Enjoyably inventive melodies are flavored by synth and guitar while the gentle groovy basslines are inspired by the great low ends of yesteryear. Now try KP's old fashioned chunky rhythm stew. You should know that it's garnished with a fifty flavors of lead guitar heroism. There's the kind of twang that only comes in tweed, or maybe the sound of a prophet standing on the burning shore. And, though we try not to resemble anyone from Vermont, somewhere along the line, you might hear something you once saw in Burlington. But perhaps you will listen closely enough to hear things you can only hear in the great Boyne Country music tradition. Razzle Dazzle!
