About Me

"If Christianity is untrue, then no honest man will want to believe it, however helpful it might be: if it is true, every honest man will want to believe it, even if it gives him no help at all." C.S. Lewis in his short article, Man or Rabbit. He was asked to write on the question of "Can't you lead a good life without believing in Christianity?" and this article was his answer to the question. I highly recommend it, just google Man or Rabbit.Another Lewis quote from his book The Weight of Glory: "It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. All day long we are, in some degree, helping each other to one or other of these destinations... There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilisations-these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit-immortal horrors or everlasting splendours."This is one of the most brilliant quotes I have ever read. If you are a Christian, you must see that you play a part in the salvation or damnation with every single person who crosses your path..."in some degree." If you can see other people in this light, then I think it is very likely you will treat everyone you cross paths with much better. So much better because certainly no one wants to be even somewhat responsible for anyone's eternal damnation but everyone wants to be used in some way for anyone's eternal salvation.
