Miloco Studios

About Me

Miloco is Europe's leading independent recording studio group, now providing the unparalleled choice of twelve studio facilities. We serve a greater range of recording projects thanks to our selection of innovative tracking studios, pristine Neve and SSL mix rooms, dynamic tracking spaces, our numerous and much sought-after programming suites, and not forgetting the latest additions of two stunning residential retreats in rural Surrey and South Spain. This flexibility attracts a hugely diverse range of artists; from fresh and exciting new bands and producers to internationally recognised and iconic names. Completing our unstoppable formula is a brilliant team of specialist in-house studio engineers and assistants, on hand to facilitate each and every project to all of your individual requirements.

The Engine Room.

This is our flagship mix studio. The combination of the Neve VR60, customised Munro M4 speakers and a variety of nearfield monitors make this one of the most accurate monitoring environments in the country.
Add to this our vast array of outboard and a 32-output Protools HD system and you can see we have the technology to compete with any other top mixing studio - and at a competitive price. But don't just take our word for it - artists from Oasis to Rachel Stevens, Slipknot to The Futureheads as well as regular clients The Chemical Brothers, have all produced hit records here.

Assault & Battery 2

Assault & Battery 2 is the tracking studio everyone's been waiting for. Opened as a joint venture between Miloco and leading producers Flood and Alan Moulder, Assault & Battery 2 proudly offers the complete recording experience.
Based in the revitalised Battery complex, this is truly one of the last great sounding recording spaces left in London. The vast high-ceiling and day-lit live room is at the heart of the studio, and caters for both large bands and even small orchestras. To one side are two large isolation booths; the first is a bright room ideal for getting exciting drum sounds and the other houses a great vintage keyboard collection, featuring a Roland system 700 modular systems and a wealth of other rare analogue delights...
The control room is centered around a newly installed Neve VR60, Protools HD3 Accel running on an Intel 8-core mac and Quested monitors. Enhancing the spec is Flood and Alan's outstanding selection of microphones, mic amps and outboard, plus an arsenal of backline comprising a beautiful collection of guitars, amps and pedals.
The studio's unstoppable formula of vast recording spaces and awesome equipment selections has been masterminded by two of the world's most respected and influential producers. You can now understand why Assault & Battery 2 ranks as one of the most inspirational recording environments in the UK.

The Square.

This is the original Milo studio, based in the palpitating heart of trendy Hoxton. Completely refurbished - cosmetically and acoustically - in 2004, the studioÍs versatile live room delivers that quintessential funky drummer sound.
Add to this, an isolation booth, an Amek 2520 console, new ATC SCM200 monitors, a vast array of outboard, a Protools HD system and an extensive microphone collection and youÍll realise why no other mid-range studio comes close on quality and price.

The Garden.

A recording studio since the late 1970s, this studio was completely refurbished in 2004. Featuring a Neve V3, newly installed Boxer T2's, gargantuan microphone collection, protools HD and fantastic sounding live rooms, The Garden has the best tracking and recording around and is a perfect complement to the Miloco group.
Originally designed by legendary studio designer Andy Munro, The Garden offers a 360 sq ft air-conditioned control room with direct visibility to the live room. And what a live room it is - every inch of its 470 sq ft delivers awe-inspiring results.
There is also a dry isolation booth, amp rooms and even a tiled coal bunker - all in all The Garden's a heavenly haven for tracking bands. It's private, self-contained and affordable, and f or clients' additional satisfaction there is Sky TV and wireless broadband on hand.

The Yard.

For those who prefer their mix environments assuredly Solid State. It boasts a combination of the SSL G Series 48-channel desk, Boxer T2 speakers and a wide range of outboard.
It comes complete with Protools HD3 Accel, sounds astonishing and is available at fantastically competitive rates. But don't just take our word for it - hotfoot it down there yourself and try it out.

Alpha Centauri.

Alpha Centauri is located in Willesden Green, NW10. Since June 2008 Miloco has teamed up with singer-songwriter Steve Rhodes to make his incredible SSL mix room in North-West London available to the public.
Alpha Centauri probably boasts the greatest specification for a studio of its kind in the UK. Here is a mix room where clients can experience, quite literally, a no-expenses-spared Solid State mixing environment. The studio's prolific collection of top-end gear is nothing short of a dream for mix engineers and producers, and accompanies the room's awesome Solid State Logic SL4060 G+ Console with Total Recall, and an unbeatable combination of monitors including some Dynaudio M4+ custom built active speakers.
Complimenting Alpha Centauri's flawless array of equipment is a stunning interior design and furnishing, lit by an ambient fusion of natural sunshine and cutting-edge LED lighting. It is a combination that amounts to a whole new standard of Solid State mixing. Alpha Centauri is undoubtedly leaving the vast majority of other SSL mix studios light years behind.

The Toyshop.

It might be the smallest of our studios, but it packs a punch. Throughout the 80s and 90s this studio was one of the busiest programming rooms in town and bands such as The Chemical Brothers started their career here. In 2004 we relocated the studio to its present home, transforming it into a large day-lit suite.
The studio is based around a DDA console with NS10s and Genelec 1031s for monitoring. Recording is via either Protools or Logic Pro, there is a large collection of analogue synths (including Minimoog and Korg MS20) to help with those retro sounds, and thereÍs a great selection of outboard for vocaling or overdubbing.

Musikbox.

This is the latest Neve mix room to be represented by Miloco. Owned by top producer/ DJ Pete Heller, it's laden with all the fantastic analogue keyboards he's collected over the years. This studio has been lovingly built by and for dedicated dancefloor addicts. However this by no means is it's only task. It is a fantastic studio for any genre of music.
The room is situated in Kentish Town, just a stone's throw from the Forum, and is based around a newly installed Neve VR60 with ATC SCM300 monitors. Add to this a Protools HD3 Accel Rig, a large choice of outboard and a great collection of analogue synthesisers and you'll see why this is the perfect studio for overdubbing, recording or mixing.

The Pool.

In 2006 Miloco opened the most exciting creative space it has, as a studio. With over 6 metres of headroom and 80 square metres of floor space, the room is gargantuan. The sound is everything you would expect from such a room. In the past it was used to track the Oasis drums on 'Morning Glory'. Currently the room has an open plan control room utilising equipment owned by producer Ben Hillier.
You can book the room using the recording equipment currently installed, or bring your own recording equipment, or just use it as an extension to our Neve room (Miloco 1) or the Toyshop (Miloco 2). The choice is yours but which ever way you go you can expect a fantastic recording environment for bands.

Sofa Sound.

Miloco has just expanded into West London for the first time ever. Sofa Sound is a pristine SSL mix room based in Chiswick, and can be used for both first-class mixing and tracking, with a decent-sized live room enhancing the studio's capability. Formerly known as Stanley House, the studio is owned by the legendary Hugh Padgham, one of the all time great producers, and has regularly attracted some of the music world's biggest names over the years.
The room is based around a fully automated SSL G+ console with 62 mono and 4 stereo channels, Quested monitors and a Protools HD3 Accel rig with Apogee convertors, and boasts a wide range of outboard. You can also enjoy a fantastic recreation room and roof terrace providing spectacular views across West London. The vibrant Chiswick High Road is a short walk away.

El Cortijo.

This is our magnificent residential retreat based in Andalucia, Spain, which we are delighted to be running together with legendary musician and studio owner, Trevor Morais. This stunning villa is a sight to behold. It has been designed and constructed with total comfort in mind and offers clients a fully secure and idyllic environment to work and relax in. Immersed in the hills and valleys of the Ronda National Park, the views from the house are breathtaking. The accommodation is 5-star and the cuisine exquisite. Here guests can be assured that their every need will be met, allowing for total concentration on the job in hand.
At the heart of the villa the recording studio boasts an expansive collection of quality gear, plus a variety of live rooms centred around a Trident console and a Protools HD3 rig. Set in the most creative environment imaginable, the studio's spectacular surroundings are guaranteed to inspire any recording project.

Fisher Lane

Fisher Lane Studios is Miloco's luxury residential retreat located just outside of London in the heart of rural Surrey. Designed by world-renowned acoustician Sam Toyoshima, architect John Flynn and producer Hugh Padgham in the early 1980s, Fisher Lane is steeped in musical history and is responsible for classic albums from bands and artists including Genesis, Phil Collins, Mike + The Mechanics, Eric Clapton and The Cure. Based around an SSL E series console, Westlake HR 1 monitors with the option of Protools and tape, the studio offers a great selection of outboard and an incredibly expansive but leisurely space to work in. Clients will also have access to a very extensive collection of backline equipment for a minimal charge.
Having incorporated two beautifully refurbished 4-bed cottages in 2008 with beautiful views over the Surrey countryside, Fisher Lane now provides a totally tranquil, secluded and inspirational setting for your recording projects.
