Pain is part of the newly emerging Chattanooga underground art scene. This is a group of artists that do not exactly fit in with the button up, straight laced, “normal†local art associations. His work has been described as “artistically schizophrenic†as it ranges from the somewhat normal, to the not intended for viewers with a history of fascist prejudice or predisposition for evangelical prostilization. Pain works in an uncontrollably wide array of mediums including acrylic, watercolor, reclaimed furniture, sculpture, photography, picture framing, bio-hazardous material handling, and flower arranging??? His imagery consists of visual representations of whatever emotion or hallucination he is in the grip of at any particular time. Those images usually come in quick bursts and it is the artist’s job to capture them before they fade. Not being what is normally accepted in the local art world, Pain’s goal is to create and dominate his own place in that society and reorder the zeitgeist to suit him self.
