myself, coming back through time with some of the answers to the pressing questions, like "What did Rupert Murdoch do with all this info we so freely gave him in our Myspace accounts?" and "Sarah Connor? Huh? Who's that?"****************************************************** ******* ************************************************************ *The music video below is by the incredible Lionel Loueke. If you ever EVER get a chance to see him play live - especially with his trio (Massimo Biolcati on bass and Ferenc Nemeth on drums) - don't miss it! I can't remember when I was so profoundly moved by a new direction in music. Think of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, the first time you heard Jimi Hendrix, or any of those changes that Miles or Herbie put us through... I'm serious. He's that good. The song below is pretty, but it only represents a portion - one expression of the beautiful spirit that wellsprings eternal through Lionel. He seems to channel it effortlessly. (He's a nice guy, too!)******************************************************* ************************************************************ *******This next one is a great tune from one of the founding members of Freak Mountain Ramblers - Kevin "Bingo" Richey. If you know Bingo, you love Bingo. He's a joy and an inspiration. Poor guy slept in my yard in Alabama (or tried to) one late mutually-drunken evening but I kept him up playing Donovan cds all night... He's just biding his time till he gets even with me for that. In the meantime, check this out:******************************************************** ************************************************************ ******Pura Fe and Danny Godinez in a benefit performance from September 2008. This is a great example of why I love their improvisational creativity as much as I do their "scripted" sets. If you ever get a chance to see them perform live - don't miss it! They're incredible.************************************************* ************************************************************ *************And last (for now) but certainly not least, here's a real wildman's version of "Smokestack Lightnin'" - done to a T by my friend Bill "Watermelon Slim" Homans. I swear, every time I listen to this I get a chill. It's like a seance, bringing back the ghost of Howlin Wolf. See for yourself:*************************************************** ************************************************************ ***********
