About Me

With a reputation for clinical mixing and production back catalogue rinsed by the likes of Andy C, Grooverider, Fabio ,Goldie ,Krust and many more , South London DJ/Producer Mechanizm (aka london pirate radios DJ Devastate) has been involved in the drum and bass scene from his early roots at Londons legendary Eruption FM back in 1993. He started his Rave DJing career at the then London hotspot Tasco-warehose , Nathan way , Plumstead. This was backed up by sets at Eruption FMs parties and raves across london and the uk. Although not a fully fledged producer at this time links made through a local studio would see him learning production skills from the likes of James Brown (express 2) Mike Spencer(Definition of Sound),Carl Brown(Tuff and Jam) and many more, although it would be some time till he would put those skills to work. Forward to late 98-99 and a new chapter would begin in Mechanizms story, playing on London pirate Rude 88.2 and at internet stations in London including Interface, Gaia live, UK Rumble, Live 4 beats and many more a chance meeting with Bristols now well known Dj Clipz would start the ball rolling towards the first releases for the duo on UK Drum and Bass legend Emcee GQs London based Emcee Recordings. Mechanizms writing coupled with Clipz passion for the right sound would culminate in some classic releases for the pair and sets at Londons Fabric Live and for Full Cycle as well as a host of others, this would ultimately lead to tours of the UK, Europe and as far afield as Japan. As successful as the Mechanizm partnership was all good things must come to an end and due to logistical difficulties and a desire to pursue different sounds, the duo parted company with Mechanizm continuing with the name and putting together his own studio and Clipz later signing to Full Cycle. So forward to today,we find Mechanizm putting the final touches to some new material due this year and optimistic about the future, since starting up solo its been an interesting time for Mechanizm, in his own words "I didnt realize how much i needed to learn until i split with Clipz ,it was probably the best thing that ever happened to me as a producer as I had a chance to weigh up what I really brought to the table and learn what I needed to finish tracks on my own, its quite surprising how good it feels to have total ownership over a project".So watch this space , things are brewing South of the river.
