About Me

Prologue
The Beginning:
Good morning, good afternoon good evening, good day welcome to the world of tedi, the story starts from here:
It had been one too many times, she was fed up with living through promises that he had no intention of delivering on, now or ever. Packing her bags she called the airport and booked a one way ticket from NY to London, her home country after leaving Montserrat aged 7. Now 6 months pregnant she leaves behind the father of her unborn baby.
Three months later and two weeks over due she sits in her room, its late night and outside the rain falls heavily, beating against the window with force, as though its meant to be inside and furious its shut out. The heavy sounds of thunder and bright flashes of lightening go head to head with the pains shooting across her stomach though she tries to ignore them knowing her antenatal appointment is early the next day. The following day her regular cab pulls up and waits as she makes her way down the stairs. Theres only a thick mist left from the previous night, but her pains have only grown stronger as time passes. Arriving to the hospital she goes in for her check up as normal and the nurse leaves her to rest after. A few hours later, the pains are still there, the nurse and the woman realise the pains are contractions and shes actually in labour. 12 hours later, on the morning of May 9th a baby boy is born, she decides to name him Reggie after his father. Unknown to her that day was also the creation of Tedis World.
Coming of age:
Watching as the short skirted, smooth, shinny, long legs of Nicola came closer and closer to him, he quietly started to hum a tune to himself. As she passed he softly sang the chorus I dont wanna bore you with it, ooh but I love you, I love you, I Love You She stops in her tracks and walks back to him.
Was that you singing? she asks even though hes the only person there. Maybe, Why did you like it? he replied with coy smile. It was alright She answers acting unimpressed, Sing something else The very first time that I saw your brown eyes, then you said hello and I said hi I knew right then you were the one Rare, you got a really nice voice you know Thanks, whats your name? My name?, Nicola! People call me Tedi, I gotta go but can I get your number? Thinking about it for a second she pulls out a pen and tears a bit of paper from her notebook. While she scribbles it down she asks him Why you called Tedi? He looks down sheepishly, Cause Im cute like one innit she hands the paper to him, with a smile that agrees. Turning and walking away her hips sway with a bit more swish this time as she turns to see if hes still watching her, she smiles sweetly seeing he is and keeps walking.
Tedi always knew that girls loved singers, so if singing equalled girls and Tedi wanted the girls the logical thing for him to do was to become an RnB singer. Growing up between Buffalo NY with his father, later North Carolina with his grandmother and London with his mother Tedi knew about the grind of making things happen so starting in music came natural for him. The focus of singing went from the girls to honing his craft, as Tedi became more involved with music. The more he focused, the more developed he became, stepping in and out of a few groups as his mind set changed.
Where it all began:
Realising there was more to music than just being an artist, he started researching the music industry. Then through a friend an opportunity came his way, he joined the Sony street team, working on shows and campaigns for artists like Nas, Lauryn Hill, Destinys Child, Xzibit, Maxwell, and Wyclef to mention but a few, it was at this moment that Tedis eyes were open to the ever changing world of music.
In 2001 came the set up of Def Jam Records in the UK, making a swift move from one label to another -though unknown to him at the time- Tedi found his home for a several years to come. As part of the street team Tedi toured up and down the UK (with Semtex, Gchild and other streetteam members) hyping up crowds at the Def Jam launch parties for some of the biggest names in Hip Hop like LL, Jay-Z, Redman, DMX and Ludacris, and RnB artist like Ashanti, 112, Christina Millian, Musiq and UK Songstress Terri Walker.
The Next Step:
Tedi created a recognised name with Djs and gained fans amongst the ladies, working alongside other members of the street team including the then unknown Sway.
With the completion of his Marketing and Advertising degrees Tedi found he had more time to devote to the industry, knowing he wanted to focus on the business side of music now, he pushed for an opportunity. Getting his chance Tedi moved from street team member to Urban Promotions assistant. Though the achievements were great, after some time he grew tired of just pushing other artists music and was growing ever anxious to work on his own project. Thus grew the drive for his 1st solo ep trying a ting and his company, a movement called My-ish. Knowing Sway produced, Tedi went to him for some beats, which resulted in them collaborating on a couple of tracks, one being fly away (unreleased). This was the start of the Dcypha and My-ish connection. As the album began to take shape Tedi found his style developing and vastly changing from the start of the album, so the decision was made to scrap it.
Taking time to fully develop his style, Tedis work within the office still progressed with him moving to become an A&R Co-ordinator. After settling within his new job role Tedi continued with his music, with the initial solo ep being scrapped he thought about how to move forward. Wanting his voice to be heard and people to know his story he started to write songs about situations hed experienced. The natural evolution of this album became the introductory Tedis World: My Life My Story book 1 of a 2 disc set coming through My-ish Inc./Dcypha Productions.
As Tedi set about creating, he knew he wanted it to be just right, so he took his time with the writing and finding suitable tracks to put on. Writing Tedi found that, though the music he was making was good, the tracks werent all right for book 1, so he chose to have fun with the music, singing on samples, remixing current hits and even creating completely new stories. Wanting to test the water with what he was doing, he compiled some tracks, adding some of his previous work and showcasing some of his My-Ish/Dcypha family. Pressing up 700 copies he handed them out for free throughout carnival as an advanced copy of Tedis World The Mixtape.
Present:
Though the journey to this point is over, by no means is this the end. With the horizon still in front, the journey opens another door. Presenting the first chapters of Tedis World His Life His Story.
Tedis world is a window into the life of Tedi; thus far trust me its a world like no other.
