I'm really just your ordinary everyday guy. Professionally I'm an engineer, but I personally define myself as a song-writer, maybe because I love the feeling I get when I hit the last note and I can hear the cheer of the crowd.
I love performing live. I think it's one of the most moving things one could ever experience. It's like undressing your soul to the world. I've been asked a few times if I ever get nervous. The answer is perhaps a surprising NO. The only time I've even felt a little shaky going on stage is when I hadn't planned on performing or when I had only recently recorded the demos at the studio. Once on stage though, the feeling soon passed. I think if you're passionate about what you're doing up there and the crowd is really feeling you, it grounds you beyond any real self-consciousness. This is what is so addictingly beautiful about performing. A good crowd can fill those gaps in your psyche and suddenly you are capable of mind-blowing art if you really want to be. It's about synchronicity, reciprocation.
So far I've spent most of my time practicing in my room. I'm a bit modest so I don't see myself as the next best thing or God's gift to music. I guess that is not my real goal with what I do. I would simply like to be a better prepared instrument for the hidden voice I long to unfurl. I just want to give an audience a piece of myself to be remembered by, to take home with them to call their own.
My music career to date has included performing in front of a crowd of about a hundred people, for which I received the honor of being voted the second best act of the night. This meant a lot to me, as it was my first outing. Overall, I've been very lucky to play in front of some very supportive crowds that always project a positive vibe.
I'd love nothing more than to have the luxury of making a comfortable living writing and performing. I've written what some would consider sentimental songs and a few sad songs, but my goal is not to come off emotionally extraneous. Rather than touch on a nerve, I would like to reach someone in a very minimalist way, almost so they barely knew what hit them and they have to relisten to capture it. This to me is the ultimate compliment. It means you did something that managed to whisper to the soul rather than harness it.
As far as personal dreams are concerned, I really only have one or two. I guess it's pretty modest. I think it would be the greatest honor to have thousands of people standing before me in a field singing one of my own songs back to me one day as I play to them. I can't even begin to imagine the validation it would bring to know I'd finally left a part of myself in this world and the world felt me back, even if only for that one instant
