About Me

Years ago Christine Thomas was just a face in the crowd...a smiling one with burgeoning talent. Living in Arizona during the late 80's, Christine was a diehard fan of Major Lingo, a band that toured incessantly and to this day remains hugely poplular in her home state. A change in the band line-up happened and she found herself singing in the band rather than along with it. Shortly thereafter she was an official member of the group. Although Christine's long since relocated to Idaho, she is still invited to sit in with her favorite band whenever she returns home.
Christine is somewhat of an enigma in this age of singer-songwriters in that to this day she has yet to learn how to play any instrument. Nevertheless, she has a tremendous talent for writing introspective and deeply personal lyrics that explore such themes as dreams and loss, a strong sense of melody and harmony, and a soulful, bluesy voice as memorable as Natalie Merchant's, Angela McCluskeys's or Margo Timmins. She's been busy since she settled in Boise, fronting numerous Boise bands like Jackson Thorne, Honeychain, and Trailerpark. Singing and dancing with Farmdog, and the David Andrews Band keeps her schedule busy as well as working with frequent collaborator and singer-songwriter Steve Fulton on his solo projects.
Christine and Steve co-founded and continue to participate in the successful, ongoing singer-songwriter series words and music. Together they have opened for Shawn Colvin and Mindy Smith. She has also performed numerous times in front of as many as 6,000 people at the "boarding for breast cancer" concert at Lake Tahoe. A fixture within the Boise music community, Christine has also sung with most of the citys other noteworthy musicians, including the David Andrews Band, Farmdog, Rebecca Scott, Bill Coffey, Douglas Cameron, Rochelle Smith, Buckskin Bible Review, exit 51, and House of Hoi Polloi. Live shows are where Christine's fan base grows with every performance. Full of energy, she possesses great stage presence. Her passion for music and powerful vocals resonate with audiences each time she shares the stage.
It's kind of funny that it's taken her so long to release her debut solo effort, "neighborhood of nine", but according to fans. friends, and even *gasp* critics it was well woth the wait. Michael Deeds, entertainment editor for the Idaho Statesman and a music reviewer for the Washington Post, says "Christine possesses a confident, gently sweeping voice and a talent for harmonies" and describes her "dreamy and kaleidoscopic" approach to songwriting as a "gypsy-tinged fusion of acoustic alt- and soft-rock suggesting influences ranging from caterwaul to Fleetwood Mac.""Neighborhood of Nine" has a great mix of tunes that'll make you want to get up and dance," gushes the Boise State University's independent student newspaper, "and a few that'll make you wish you were soaking in a tub surrounded by candles." her fan base in Boise concurs, whose purchases made Christine's freshman effort the Record Exchanges's best-selling title for two weeks during the 2005 holiday season and a number 45 on the top 200 albums of the year in terms of sales.
