About Me

The Inspiration first originated back the 31st of December 2004, at former lead guitarist James Towle's New Years house party.
Andy Foster had been invited to this through a friend of Towle's. Within a few hours Foster had befriended Towle, and former bassist, Matt Fearon.
The three hit it off instantly, teaching Andy, as he had only been playing guitar for about 3 months by this time, the others for nearly two years.
In months to come they jammed every now and then with original drummer Pippa Calver, who was soon replaced by Dave Spencer. Spencer was also at the new years party, where the magic began, but did not take his position until below average drumming forced Calver from the band and its progression.
The next year saw the boys rehearsing heavily in Towle's front room getting tighter in preparation and hopes of gig prospects. The four constantly talked about playing in front of crowds, yet they took their time in preparation of a making a good first impact.
The band had been struggling at this point to find a vocalist to front their band and held numerous auditions with no luck. It was during this time they began working on their own material, which came from the most inexperienced of them all, Foster. Putting the idea forward to the rest, with his simple material, he bravely suggested himself to step up to the mic, baring in mind he could still only play a simple progression. However, with much reluctance, the rest of the band gave him the chance and steadily over time began to prove himself with his voice.
With the vocals coming from Foster, it was decided that they had to get out there and start gigging, so, with a few converstations here and there they managed to blag themselves a spot at Foster's elder brothers, friends, 21st birthday party.
With their gigging debut on the 25th February 2006, the lads began to look up with little gig offers coming from here and there word soon spread around. 2006 looked good for them as the year moved on they were receiving more and more gig offers, even having a little success in a battle of the bands contest.
At the start of 2007 thoughts started occurring in the back of the lads minds of university. Both Fearon, Towle and Foster had successfully applied yet some were reluctant to go. In the first couple of months of 2007 Towle applied successfully for a job in London and moved closer to its location separating the band unwillingly. However Towle upheld his word and returned to practice ever so often and gigged when he could, but as with all distant relationships it came to and end. After returning from the Lark in the Park, Islington, gig Towle announced he was leaving for the obvious reasons and departed with no hard feelings. This left the boys in a horrible predicament, to split or not to split?
Then came along wonder boy Perry Thomas Little, a true romantic and close companion of Foster's from other musical side projects, he graciously accepted and settled into the band as if he was always a member.
The boys got their heads together and decided to scrap ninety percent of the material they already had, leaving Foster & Thomas to compose a whole new array of material. With a lot of hard work and many hours rehearsing the boys got back to gigging in under a month, they were feeling refreshed and far more appreciated by audiences with their new upbeat material.
As with all good things it was not long before trouble came running around the corner again, this time with Fearon. After several times of letting the boys down over gigging and rehersing the lads were having quite enough. They understood he had the prospect of leaving the band for university drawing ever closer in his mind, so mutually decided to go their separate ways, leaving the newly settled line up to play gigs as a three piece.
Things were looking down over the next few weeks with friendships at the lowest and guitars at their dustiest, but like a pheonix from the flame young Edwin Ireland, of The Escape, kindly offered his temporary services towards the boys and so the story continued. Not long after this tempers began to fray once again, the boys soon decided enough was enough and ended the relationship once and for all...............

RECENT GIGS REVIEWS....

"THE INSPIRATION- catchy bouncy and will stay in your head for days, these bedford boys carry off the sound so well, and once you see them you'll know what i mean"
- GEORGE 2ND, LUTON

"THE INSPIRATION - easily one of Bedford's best indie bands with a style of tunes more listenable to a wider audience, tight, rehearsed and incredibly well timed and go down well at most places."
- BEDFORD METAL

"THE INSPIRATION - whose performance was not affected by some disrespectful people who chatted away while these lads were playing. The Inspiration put on a fine show with the reggae lilt of ‘Rhyme in Metaphors’, a little gem, while ‘Timed Out’ with the worrying refrain of “it hurts” is thought provoking. The scuzzy guitar work on ‘East of Croydon’ crackles with passion. A mention must be made to the bands drummer who wore a rather splendid trilby hat. I was quite envious."
- BEDFORD ESQUIRES

"THE INSPIRATION - just seem to improve with each viewing. Singer Andy Foster did fine without help from bandmate James Towle (who looks nothing like his myspace picture,) just as well really since someone had turned off his mic, apparently as a wind-up. With time this Bedford based four piece will do really well and they've got a new EP out, The Perfect Fixture, which does a good job of showcasing their talents."
- BEDFORDSHIRE ON SUNDAY

"THE INSPIRATION - one of the most talented young bands in Bedford, with a new member and a hot sound. Their recent EP secured them gigs around the UK, we tip this band to go all the way. For fans of good guitar music."
