About Me

Richard Kayvan is a music producer / engineer / writer. In terms of production, Richard is currently working with Tim Brownlow on his debut EP. The dark, futuristic folk has been described as 'beautifully haunting'. Tim will be playing gigs across the country in 2008 with Richard accompanying him on piano.
2007 saw the completion of City Reverb's new album '(Lost City Folk And The) Grace Reunion. The band is fronted by legendary chill-out spinner Chris Coco and ex Bearskin Rugs singer Micky Buccheri. City Reverb's first single, 'Everything' will be out in early 2008... Watch out for gigs coming up - Keep an eye on the City Reverb Myspace page.
Other projects include Belasco’s second album ’61’ which he also engineered and mixed. He produced and engineered McQueen’s debut album ‘Break The Silence’ which was mixed by QOTSA / Tool producer Joe Barresi and himself. In June / July 2006 he mixed Judas Priest's Live DVD in surround-sound together with their original producer, Tom Allom. It received excellent reviews around the world and is the only DVD to ever get 10/10 in Terrorizer Magazine. 2006 also saw Richard producing two new albums for the blues-infused, country troubadours, Hey Negrita. A slightly bizarre yet rewarding moment of 2006 saw him working with Antti Uusimaki recording psychedelic rock band 'Shora' in a nuclear bunker in Switzerland.
Richard got his first music industry job at the legendary Great Linford Manor Studios as assistant / tape-op. Here, he was lucky enough to work with (and learn from) producers Owen Morris (The Verve, Oasis), Stuart Staples (Tindersticks), Simon Dawson (The Stone Roses), John Cornfield (Muse, Supergrass), Tony Platt (AC/DC) to name a few.
After a year at Great Linford Manor, Richard came back to London and began writing his own material. He was introduced to Simon Belofsky of Serious Records who gave him a job in his studio as engineer / programmer and the world of dance music began to open up in front of him. At Serious, Richard worked with Chris Coco (mixing/remixing), Sonique (writing), Darren Tate (mixing) and Judge Jules (programming/mixing/remixing). And of course having been introduced to Simon Patterson by Judge Jules, 'Dogzilla' was born.
Dogzilla has achieved notable success over the past few years. In 2006 'Without You' achieved cult status in club-land and appeared on over 20 compilations world-wide. It was hailed as dance track of the year by Paul Van Dyk and received countless radio plays. Their first single, the self-titled 'Dogzilla' has recently appeared in the TV show 'The O.C.' and cult British film 'The Football Factory'. 2007 will see Richard and Simon performing more Dogzilla live shows.
